Might be a little bit late, but for you guys with a PS3 and PSP, Symphony of the Night is out for 10 bucks on the PSN. It's playable on the PS3 and PSP. One of the greatest sidescrollers and Castlevania's ever.

I'm going to wait for Dracula X Chronicles. That's got the new and enhanced version of SotN, not the port that's on XBLA and PSN.

    Original is always better, I don't care how good these ports and enhanced versions with filters may be. ;_;

I have the original on PS1, I love that game. One of the best soundtracks ever.

I have the X Box 360 port, and I don't think I can agree with Greenshadow.

There are some sacrifices and some benefits. First, the sacrifices: SOTN doesn't have the 3 CGI movies. The intro, the castle-flipping, and the ending aren't there. It sucks that it's not there, but it's not exactly a giant deal.

The benefits: I haven't encountered any slowdown in the 360 port. The PS1 version had slowdown up the wazoo, especially in the upside-down castle. Loading times are also a lot shorter.

So you lose slowdown and loading times (plus), but you also lose about 1 minute total of CGI.

And, I didn't like the filters either. I turned them off. Problem solved. :)

True, it lost the slowdown and loading in a couple ports, as it probabily will in DXC.

I guess both do have their advantages.

This is not a port. It's the original PS1 version, completely unchanged.

At least the version I downloaded six months ago was.

Have original PS1, 360 Live version, and will have the PSP game later this year. Don't think I need a 4th. Also don't see the reason they put it on PSN sicne its an original PS1 title that can still be found at used games stores and Ebay.

    They serve a benefit.
They give you a chance to replay a game that you no longer have the CD for.
Plus, if they make the company a profit they will be more inclined to revist the property and possibly go back to that type of game design.

I didn't say ports serve no purpose, just I didn't enjoy trying out the 360 port as much as the original game.

Oh and I don't think Konami has strayed off the Castleroid style of SotN at all. ;)

Hey, dude, I am not trying to argue at all.
I am merely pointing out one of the benefits of these rereleases.
For instance, Pac-man and Ms. Pac-man sold quite well on XBLA which led to the 100% awesomeness that is Pac-man: Championship Edition.

Maybe Konami will follow suit with something like that.

Yeah but it is cool to start a game on the PS3 copy it to your PSP with your saved game and continue your game while on vacation.

That is what the PSP game later this year is for I figure.

How about I half raise my hand because my bro gave my original version to a friend to never get it back, and somehow 3 years later found a version at a Fleet Farm for 10 bucks.
