Newsarama.com : Martin Campbell to Direct Green Lantern
just please don't mess this movie up. hopefully they'll see what favreau did with ironman and do it right and also look at bay and tf's and see what NOT to do. oh and it better be hal!
I wish I could correct my spelling on the title, I was in the middle of a phone conference when I posted this and not entirely paying attention. I think the director did a good job on Casino, with the right script this could be good.
Just PM a mod, or post in the tech assist forum.
Green Lantern has so much untapped potential for the big screen, it's ridiculous. It's Star Wars meets superheroes! I just hope they stay true to the source material and don't change things too much. Keep it about Hal and Sinestro and that will be a good start.
No matter what its' gotta wind up better than that Jack Black idea they had a few years ago.
I have tried to block that from my memory. Thank you for reminding me of it.
Please don't screw this up, please don't screw this up. Keep it simple with Hal and Sinestro and you've got a winner right there.
For anyone interested, IESB and Latino Review both posted positive script reviews a few months back.

That said, I'm really hoping WB goes along with this.
Best thing would be to just adapt that last GL arc prior to Blackest Night when Geoff Johns re-tells how Hal became a GL. Which sounds pretty close to what they are doing.
And I'm going to say this too, even though I'm sure most will dis-agree. I really, really think Ben Affleck as Hal Jordan would be great for some reason.
I don't care for the Hector Hammond being the main bay guy, mainly because I have the feeling they are going to make him generic.
No it should be Nathan Fillian or David Boreonez.
I like both of those actors. But Fillion is more of the everyman type of hero or anti-hero if you will type of actor. I know he has done more than just Firefly and Serenity, but I believe that is what most of the movie going audience probably knows him from. Boreanez just doesn't strike me as the Hal type.
I guess I base my wanting of Affleck as Hal on his characters in Pearl Harbor and Armageddon. Both of those characters were arrogant and hot-headed but in the end matured. I really think Affleck can pull of the best Hal. He has the body type and physicality for the role too. Another thing is that it wouldn't be a bad thing to attach a well known name to this. Batman got Bale, Iron-Man got Downey, and those worked out well.
I really can't think of any other actor well-known or otherwise that would be a good fit for Hal. Maybe Jaime Bamber from BSG, but I really don't think that works either.
David Boreanaz already played Green Lantern in New Frontier and did a good job. Hal started off as a bad boy. So either actor could do it. Affleck was Daredevil.
Providing a voice and actually playing the character on screen are two different things. I would still like to see a late 20's actor that could play Hal. I just can't think of one.
*sees title and thinks as daniel crag as the green lantern* oh dear god... i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing !!!!!!
i'd like to see "Emerald Twilight"
Campbell is a fantastic director. GoldenEye, The Mask of Zorro, Royale...I think he can pull it off. Can't wait!
The thought of a Green Lantern movie has me excited. GL was probably my second favorite super hero growing up, though I didn't really know about the other GL's for most of it.
