I've seen a few scattered posts about the Casino Night Dinner, and I was hoping to find a little more specific information. What kind of food is served? I read one year it was just pizza, and another year some sort of steak, and have seen a few posts that make me think the quality of the food is questionable every year. Does the food change every year depending on the venue? Is it a sit-down or buffet style? Do you have to eat in one specific room, or can you grab and go?

    Thanks in advance!

Quality of food would be venue dependent.

When it is a Casino Night it is food stations. So its like buffet style, but the food stations would be scattered a bit.

If they have food stations like that year, don't expect to get much food. It was horrible. The sitdown or even a lined buffet would be better. Too many people not enough space.

I thought last years was better than 06. I really like that the tables were spread out. The food was good. Just make sure you get there alittle early.

I just recommend planning on finding your own food either before or after.

Thanks for all the info! After receiving the Botcon response of "we'll see what we can do" to my email about dietary restrictions, I was already feeling a little uneasy about the dinner. Based on the responses to this thread, I'll definitely just go elsewhere for my grub.

    Thanks again!

No, no. Last year's was a party with appetizer type food, not a dinner proper. Honestly though, they kept refilling everything very promptly, and we had no trouble getting plenty of pizza and wings, and even someof the pie for dessert.

This should be more like 2006 was. Combined gambling and food, like a spread-out buffet. Hopefully this hotel will do a better job keeping food available than in 2006 though. And have more decent food period. The pasta and turkey in 2006 was good, but the beef wasn't so hot, nor the rest.

Right. Smart Casual which is similar to business casual. Decent shirt, preferably with a collar, or at least some buttons involved(on the FRONT CENTER, just to be clear :lol ). Decent looking pants.

I'm planning to go a little above and beyond that myself, but that's because I REALLY REALLY REALLY miss the old 3H style catered semi-formals. I'm not busting out the suit (which hasn't been used since 2003's dinner, for shame!), but going to dress up a bit. I'd really like to see that return with good food, decent portions, and an actual selection of drinks, not just freaking coffee, tea, and water, damnit.

Yeah I don't count on the Awards Dinner to satisfy my hunger pangs... but at the same time I'll at least try it out.

well i will be decked out in a shirt and tie. So if you see a tall broadshouldered feelow in a white shirt and dragon tie wearing yellow reflective glasses that be me. So stop over and say hi. One question though?? Exactly how does the gambling work??

Gambling is basically for funnymoney that may or may not be redeemable for prizes. The organizers also sometimes do sudden prizes for having, say, a certain poker hand or stuff like that.

The first FP Botcon had a funnymoney auction for various things after the gaming, but it was a bit of a disaster and hasn't happened since (I think??).

Basically it's a hangout thing, with awards presentations and some announcements, and getting to see Vangelus dressed the hell up with his suavity.

(according to my spellcheck, 'suavity' is a real word o_o )
