My dad used to talk about his Shelby Cobra all the time...sadly I never got to drive that one. The only time I can think of that he bought something other than GM.

Mr. Shelby had some wonderful ideas and designs. :rip

We have truly lost a legend. The Ford GT500, GT40, GT and the Shelby 427 are true American muscle cars.
    RIP, Carroll.

Just heard this on themustangsource.com. Sucks. RIP Mr. Shelby.

I may have a Gone in 60 Seconds Marathon tonight in his honor. All three movies, for the record.

I'd be lying if I said I knew much about him...

    Nonetheless, R.I.P man.

How did I miss this news? I have always been a fan of Shelby's cars and he truly was an innovator when it came to cars. To put it simply, it's like the world of car racing lost its Steve Jobs. RIP.

    :(

I remember watching a video of him a couple of years ago (an episode of "Rides" maybe?) & he didn't seem that old. Looks as though father time caught up with him quite quickly towards the end.

When it comes to his legacy, Where do you start? IMO The GT-40 is still the toughest car ever produced. Then there's his Shelby Cobra (what a beast), his Mustangs - I can go on & on...

Thank you for the performance. Thank you for those swoopy lines. Thank you for producing some of the most brutal 4-wheeled weapons of all time. I'll miss you Carroll. Until we meet again. :(

Now I need to go & play with my Alternator Mirage - for old times sake...
