    Hi there,

I picked up this little Mazinger a while ago :)  This is Bandai's Capsule Chogokin series, and I am really impressed with the tiny neatness of it. Anyone has a collection of these? I appreciate those as substitute of the Chogokin toys I had when I was little, as real vintages are so expensive. They are good enough for my nostalgia.

I'm considering of Capsule Popinika Kamen Rider bikes as well.

Is this a recent release? And what other figures are in the series? A brief Google search revealed Combattler, Kamen Rider Amazon, and Gold Lightan.

I don't think so. I have had Getter 1 and Black Raideen from that line since 2004. Very impressive but Black Raideen is so fiddly.

Sounds like the series was released around 2002. I have know of them for a long time but never got around to pick up any until last month. I should have sooner.

Roanstalker, so Black Raideen isn't good? Shame, I'd have liked that one as well.

Yeah, I saw them a few years ago and they really look good! I THINK I have the original vintage Mazinger too - when I was much younger of course! :D

It doesn't like to stand because of the 'wings'. But it comes with all its accessories and a 'closed' head piece for the transformation. Quite good for the size and the fact I only payed like $5 for it makes it even better :D .

Heres some pics with Baan from Cm's DX Great Baan Gaan set:

Is that the same as the The Chogokin series? If so I have Getter Robo, Reideen, and Combattler V from that line. Neat little toys to be sure, with a surprising amount of die cast.

Are they minicon sized? If not then I don't think they are.

Perhaps they are similar in size - I have neither the GT Chogokin series or the Capsule Chogokin to know that - but they're definitely not the same series.

Ah, okay....would explain why I have no problems with my Reideen. As for size, mine are a bit bigger than a minicon but smaller than a basic.

I've got a bunch. :D  They're really cool, and I love the downsized retro boxes they come in, too.

I've got the Godaikin downsized Voltes V they released through this, he's neato (if rickety).

I recall seeing a version of Combattler V that actually separated. It was pretty sweet. The only downside was that you had to get each vehicle individually.

I saw that one in my search as well, it's from the related CPA series and were also gashapon figures.

The Combattler looked so good that someone actually mistook it for a vintage version!

I don't understand why they made Liger and Poseidon but not Dragon...

Yeah, they are! That's cause these are gashapon figures, and were released in vending machines (that's why they're Capsule Chogokin) and I think retailed for 300 yen each. I'm more surprised by the half-reasonable price these command after so many years.

Thanks for the pics, Roanstalker. Isn't that Baan tiny! Black Raideen still looks rather neat.

Chosen, I appreciate the nice group pics in your links. They look good, don't they? I need some affordable stuff :D

Emperor, hey, long time no see :)  Hope you have got some new Votoms stuff.

Yes Baan is TINY but Raideen is teeny AND doesnt seem to lose out on detail at all. Just look at that face staring blankly at you... Its scary especially since its the black version.

    Are these diecast?

Also, out of the links Chosen posted... If I were to get one (ie. click on the link and buy what the link links to), which should it be?
