Just to keep anyone from getting hopes up, this game will never see the US. So many companies hold the rights to different animes over here that it becomes impossible to release here, they would all have to be unlicensed, licensed to the same company, or Capcom would have to pay through the teeth for the rights just for a single game with half the characters unknown to US gamers.

Really is too bad though, 3D crossover game was in my wishlist and this looks awesome.

I woulden't write it off personally, were well past the days when Japanese companies were issuing licences that signed away the family jewels just to get thier shows into the western market and vast swathes of TP's stuff isn't licenced in English speaking lands anyway because it doesen't sell here.

From what I understand, CoA is actually looking into it. Apparently it's not quite as difficult as most people believe it to be. Someone gave a pretty good explanation about it awhile back. I'll post it if I can remember where it's at.

Looking into it they certainly are, in fact news now of Capcom running a US location test at the EVO world finals in Vegas in August. Additionally, Capcom is "working on more ways for US players to try it out as well".

I hope they can pull off a release for this game outside of Japan. I'd pick this up day one!

I'm not trying to argue -your post makes perfect sense.
But why would they test it in the US?

I probably cling to false hope...

Yatterman, the hurricane dude and the big ciggy lighter have never been licenced in English speaking countries as far as I know.

Gatchaman's licencing seems to be done for specific uses since multiple companies have released it in different forms at the same time.

Casshern has multiple versions, only some of which have been licenced.

Did either of you actually read the last posts Zeromayhem and myself made? They are actively in the process of seeing if they can release it over here. Licensing is not that big of an issue.

I'm more curious if the obscure japanese characters would be more of a problem. Marvel was more recognizable for everyone. I only know Mark from G-Force (yes, I know it's Ken from Gatchaman). I would only pick it up for that and the kicking theme song from Gatchaman.

There's a niche of hardcore fighting games fans who will pick it up, even if they dont recognise all the characters, so long as it's not completely broken. Arcana Heart fell into that category, and Atlus didnt have any qualms about releasing it. Ditto Guilty Gear when it first showed up.

Heck, a popular fighting game will MAKE those characters famous if enough people pick it up. It might not be a BIG seller on the order of SFIV or SCVI, but it WILL sell.

    Um... yeah.
And unless I read the wrong thing it just said they were testing it stateside and looking at ways to make it "available" to US gamers.
That could mean a lot of things. All of the Tatsunoko characters could be given different skins.

It's a week later and I still don't see an official word from Capcom that they are actively looking at releasing it in the US. (Although I agree that in all likelyhood they are.)

Perhaps in countries that do not recognize the concepts of trademarks or intellectual properties, yes.
Licensing is always a big deal.

I'm hearing rumblings that this shit is gonna be Wii exclusive... which will irritate me no end as it makes importing it even harder :mad

So like, I don't know half the characters on the Tatsunoko side

...but if this game was ever availible for US PS3 I'd certainly damn well buy it in a heartbeat.

Yeah I've run across that bit of info too here and there. Still no one seems to have anything concrete and thus are still saying rumor to anything but an arcade version.

I still hold out hope that it'll get released outside of Japan by Capcom. As for what system, I guess PS3 would be my first choice. The only way I'd consider buying it for Wii would be if there was a non-waggle option to the controls, like Brawl was able to do.
