In Transformers fiction, do you go by the canon or do you create your own version of the canon? I flow with the canon.

    Going with #3 on this.

Between G1 and BW and post BM, I tend to do alot of making my own stuff up. Like having BW Quickstrike's spark pulling a "G1 Starscream" and taking over a Dcon's body in 2011 (Darksteel). Then ending back on the post BM Cybertron to create trouble to shock Beast Wars vets.

I also have G1 Grimlock being around during the post BM era, but now as a Maximal and being smart and talking normal as a result of the Maximal upgrade.

I use my own continuity or my TF toys. Most TF media is trash so I just come up with my own and ignore the garbage.

Three is my choice. I tend to gravitate towards the G1 continuity but there are areas I improvise.

I'm mostly canon with a little fanon thrown into the mix.

I'd go with a good story every time whether its canon or fanon.

I can't come up with a better story than Last Stand of the Wreckers. But there are many canon stories I can do better than.

Before the "alligned continuity" they are currently pushing, it was impossible NOT to have fan-cannon, as there are like 20000 continuities. Whther you like Prime or not, I think it's a good idea that they are trying to make things part of one continutity. I have to say it made me happy watchign the recent episode of Prime that referenced things from the Exodus novel.

The canon gives me some ideas of what characters are like and some of the basic history, but there are such bad things in the official canon that I find I have to pick and chose things to point of it being my own version.

For example I just pretend that Beast Machines never happened so somewhere on Earth there is an ancient Waspinator who was left as the king of the early humans. I tend to ignore the movies as well so humans don't run around kick Decepticon butts without super science or being something like Batman.

Depends of story and, more significantly, of certain characters.
Overall, as ficwriter and fanartist, I prefer fanon.

It's all fanon to me, even the officially licensed stuff.

I used to go by mostly fanon, but since 'Aligned' is pretty much what my fanon was, I'm going by it. :)

I think pretty much everyone uses fanon to some degree, whether they realize it or not. :)

I use mostly fanon when it comes to characters and stories but my fanon continuity is heavily based on some canon ideas.

    #3 for me.

Mostly canon, I guess. But I reserve the right to ignore something I think is stupid. Like the G1 season 3 episode that tells us Unicron was invented by an alien monkey. Nope!

I tend to use the Primus/Unicron story in the cartoon. As far as i'm concerned, "Call of the Primitives" never happened.

Canon + authorial intent that didn't make into the actual fiction for whatever reason.
