Yes. You can take it a couple times close together then they make you wait a while before you can take it again. But technically you can take it as many times as needed.

Yup. Some states require a period of time before a retest though.

Yeah here where I'm at you can do it 3 times (you have to pay $30 to do it) and you can do all 3 in one day if you keep messing up, but after those 3 and you still have yet to pass you wait a week or two i think then gotta pay up $30 again for 3 more test.

no. you are given one opportunity to pass. if you fail you fail. you will never be able to drive any sort of motor vehicle for the rest of your life. you must walk to your destination while everyone else drives in their 2/3/4 wheeled mansion. if you disobey these rules you will be slaughtered and your skin shall be used as coats and your intestines as jump ropes

I think you have to wait a certain period of time to retake it.

So I just took that test. I uhhh....didn't do very well, hehe.

But the one question I disagree with the answer on is

About what percentage of collisions involve alcohol?

The correct answer is according to this test is 40%

I suppose it depends what the definition of 'collision' is. It must not include fender benders for that 40% to be remotely accurate.

I failed. All of the fire trucks that I've seen in NYC say "Keep back 200 feet." There was no option for 200 feet. Sucks!

In Texas you pay one fee of $24 that allows you to take the test 3 times within the span of 90 days. If you haven't taken the test a single time within those 90 days, it expires anyway, and you have to pay another $24 if you want another 90 days. If you take the test 3 times within your 90 days, and fail all 3 times, your chances are expired. You then have to pay another $24 if you want to retest again.

Here I think you have to wait 2-4 weeks between tries. It's been so long I don't remember.

Why should that matter? Especially when the test includes legal BAC questions and talks about don't Drink and Drive and buzz driving is against the law?

    Man you got cheated.

BTW, I passed my written test twice without studying :D
    1st test missed 3
    2nd test missed 2

I aced the written test first time.
But the driving portion (taken separately here) i took 4 times.
I had to use my sister's car to take the test and each time it failed the State Trooper's inspection.
    1.) windshield wipers locked up.
2.)the car rolled 2 feet with the parking brake on.
3.) the brake lights went out.
4.) i took the test and aced it.

    ugh.
i have a CDL with Passenger, Hazmat and tanker endorsements.
though i am pretty much blind, I have renewed it twice without it being checked.
so i can still drive a school bus, or tanker trucks with dangerous cargo. scary, eh?

Here's a driving question for you:

at a 4 way stop there is a vehicle at each stop sign. a police car (lights/sirens on), an ambulance (lights and siren on), a USPS truck, and a school bus.
    Who has right of way?

    good luck.

Why should that matter? Because its a false assumption. Drinking and driving isn't a good thing to be doing, but the 'fear' they try and put into us is ridiculous.

    Alcohol Consumption and Traffic Crashes

According to that site it is estimated that 7% of accidents involve alcohol. Now it did say this

In 2002, 32 percent of fatally injured drivers had BACs of at least 0.08 percent. Although alcohol may not have been a causal factor in all of the crashes

But last time I checked 32% is less than 40%. Oh and the question just asked about collisions, not car accident related deaths. So again the data suggest 7% of accidents involve alcohol, but this test says it causes 40%.

You should call your DMV and ask.
