    Good call on it being Snapdragon Foster. I agree that Gnaw would eat ANYTHING! I'm still sticking by Unicron was gonna digest humans. And what about the Predcaons. Ya think they hunted game in the jungle?

    I think the Insecticons adapted over time to convert crops and whatnot into energon to survive. If i understood it right, the Insecticons were awake and active for almost 4 millions years.

    FWIW, I just got done reading Best of UK: Dinobots and in one of them Sludge(in a deranged state of mind) is fed some organic stuff by this human female and it says that his systems recognized it as organic and therefore useless and vaporized it with a diffuse laser beam.

    Yeah, that's one of the awkward truths that makes a "machine world" sort of hard to work with... in order to have fossil fuels, you sort of have to have fossils... ie, carbon based remains. No plants and dinosaurs = no oil.

    I suppose there could be some science-fiction explanation of how very similar substances (or possessing the same combustive properties at least) could exist on Cybertron, being an alien landscape and all... but as usual, the more you put the Transformers reality under the microscope, the more it falls apart. :) 

    When all else fails, Primus did it! :D

    Transformers run on energon. It seems like you can make energon out of practically anything that produces energy (at least in the cartoon). Energon is a plot convinience that lets transformers run on whatever the writers feel like lol

    Cybertron, in the Beast Machines part of the G1 continuity at least, started off as an organic planet and this was a major plot point, so oil could've originated there. However, BM was made before the retcon that made Cybertron the dormant body of Primus, so this may not be feasible anymore, unless of course, Primus made all the oil himself from nowhere. Primus did it!
