Can the slim PS2 play mp3 CD's? I searched around on the internet, found a yes and a no, so I'd like to hear from someone who maybe has some experience on the matter.

    Thx.

It's 11:30 so I don't have time to burn a cd, but I'll make an MP3 CD to test out on my slimline tomorrow unless someone answers by then.

Almost 100% sure it's yes Jux

My dad has a burnt CD of Reggae/Calypso music. After I get 8hrs sleep I'll try it out and tell you for certain.

But I PS2 can play burned DVDs.So I don't see why MP3s would be different

He's talking about a CD-ROM disc with MP3 files on it, not an audio CD burned from MP3s.

They did not change any functionallity in the PS2 when they made it smaller, and if they added MP3 playback they would be the first to tout it.

However there are 3rd party players that will let it work.

Well, I did it the old-fashioned way and tried it and my answer is...

    ..evidently not.

I thought I remembered hearing that it did, too, but by the time I got one, I didn't really need such a capability anymore. Same goes for it playing DVDs for that matter. :redface2:

Well I guess that settles that, then.

    Thanks for trying, Omnibus.
