I tried google, but I ended up even more confused. IDW has tons of Transformers comics. Basically I want to buy all the Transformers ongoing back issues and start collecting them as they come out bi-weekly. Did it actually start at #0? How many issues have there been (alternate covers/special editions, etc.?) Any info would be much appreciated!

See, it depends what you mean by "ongoing". IDW has had an ongoing Transformers universe from its beginning, but it started out being spread over various mini-series, before an actual, proper ongoing monthly comic book series began about a year-and-a-half ago. The comics which make up the entire IDW G1 universe are:

Infiltration (seven issue mini series, begins with the #0 you mentioned)
    Stormbringer (4 issues)
    Escalation (6 issues)
    Devastation (6 issues)
Spotlight (25 one-shots centring on different characters)
    Megatron Origin (4 issues)
    Maximum Dinobots (5 issues)
    All Hail Megatron (16 issues)
The ongoing (currently at issue 17)
    Bumblebee (4 issues)
    Ironhide (4 issues)
Last Stand of the Wreckers (5)
    Drift (4 issues)
    Transformers Infestation (2 issues)
Hearts of Darkness (4 issues, currently only #1 out)

Yeah that's what confuses me. Basically I just want the one that started a year and a half ago.

I've seen some IDW Transformers #0 on Ebay, but they're from 2005, so I don't know if it's considered a part of this current series. Regarding covers - Oh yeah, there have been a ton of alternate covers and special editions.

Here's a link to the shopping portion of IDW's website for Transformers "Ongoing". It shows a bunch of covers, so you know what you're looking for.

    https://shop.idwpublishing.com/comics/series/transformers/ongoing-series.html

This is the one you're looking for, I believe.

Comic talk goes in the comic forum.

I didn't see a Transformers comic section. I see a non-Transformers comic section. Am I just missing it?

No, they just put it all here in the general form in order for it to be massively unintuitive and unhelpful.

If all you want is the ongoing that started a year and a half ago, then you just have 17 issues to catch yourself up on. You can pick up the first twelve in paperback form, as "For All Mankind" (Vol 1) and "International Incident" (Vol 2). The third volume, collecting up to issue 18, will be out in the next few months.

You may also want to check out the Bumblebee miniseries, which takes place concurrently with the first few issues of the ongoing and features some changes to the title character that are reflected in the main book.

If the damn books were better quality maybe there would be enough discussion traffic to warrant a TF comic forum. Of course, all the whiny snark doesn't count.

Really? I didn't realize they weren't good. Maybe I should reconsider.

Well, it hasn't been as good story-wise as I'm sure many will agree, but this is the very first TF comic I've ever bought regularly, so I'm still enjoying it. It's not a total bomb by any means; I don't want to scare you away from it.

The recent news about the series adds a little bit of interest to it too.

Who asked for a dedicated forum? You would just think you could talk about Transformers comics in the Transformers forum instead of having to take it to general discussion. I mean, c'mon, that's completely unintuitive.

    HAHAHA! Touche! :D

Don't be so easily swayed by TWO people posting here that they don't like it.

Yes, people don't like the Ongoing series - and they tend to be the most vocal.

But you know what? Other people DO like the Ongoing!

I've been collecting Transformers comics since 1984 (I mention this only to avoid the "oh, you obviously don't know what a good TF comic looks like"-type comments) and I like it. It's had some dud issues (#8-12) but also some good ones (I enjoyed the first six-issue arc and the current one).

In short, buy them (I'd probably recommend the TPBs as a quick way to catch up) and form your own opinion... then come back here and let us know what you think!

The recent news is what caught my attention. I try to collect all things Transformers. But its not like it was 10 years ago when there were limited Transformers items. It's overwhelming now. I'll buy the first issue and see how I like it.

That's what I was thinking. It's no big deal to me though. I just want to put it where it belongs. I'm always paranoid about posting things in the wrong forum. I didn't think I was supposed to post Transformers stuff in the non-transformers section. Some message boards don't care. Others are really strict.

I'll be buying them. Even if they are complete garbage, I'd still collect them (I just might not read them). I'm not picky though.I'm gonna look for some back issues this weekend. I assume local comic shops carry it. I went to IDW's shop but their shipping is steep!
