Okay, how shall I put this?....

    Here goes:-
I have been collecting G1s, Alts and BTs and MPs for years now and I can say I literally have the whole collection of them, (except BT-17 Black Convoy, which is so expensive here, you can literally pay rent for 2 years with that price) and I am very proud of the collection that I have.

This is where the kicker starts - I realised that I was to marry next year and I need tons of moolah to finance the wedding and I do not have enough of it to give my wife the wedding she wanted. Early few months back I sold all my G1 to get her a wedding dress (a mighty nice one if I may add) and now I found myself stuck with all the other cost of the wedding (dinner tables, musicians, etc..the works) which escalates to inhuman levels.

So I made the most difficult decision in my TF collecting career. I sold off all my treasured BTs, Alts and MPs. EVERYTHING. At first, I breathe the sigh of relief being able to pay off a good portion of the wedding bills but a part of me tells me that I can never recover from getting all of them back.

They are what triggered me to TF collecting back in 2003. I enjoyed playing with each and every one of them, I always spend 20 minutes every day gazing at them on display and just simply at awe with the marvel of toy engineering that goes into them. Now, the display cases are nothing but empty spaces.

But I love my wife more. I believe I did the right thing but if ever I can recover and abled in financial terms again, can I ever get them all back?

    Peace,
    Tcracker

I love my wife and my toys. I was lucky and didn't have to sell of any of my collection to finance anything. In actuallity my wife wouldn't let me. She knows the joy they bring to my life and how I can go in and look at them after a hard days work and relax.

You gotta do what ya gotta do and thats it. Sure you can get them back but it's gonna cost ya and you may never get them all back but look on the bright side, you have a wife that you love and loves you and in this world thats all that matters.

That's all that matters. The toys are meaningless. If you're in a spot to pick some up later in life, awesome, but they're not your wife.

Dude at the end of the day, its family first. I agree at the end of the day, its just toys. As to ever getting them back...who knows? There's always reissues these days.

Patience time and saving your cash. You may not get everything back, but you can probably eventually get the ones that were the most precious to you. Eventually someone else will be in a similar position, so keep checking the fourms and ebay. I found some things that were on my list for really cheap by just waiting and watching. Have a budget and try not to go over it. Also always have a backup fund. You never know when something more important, car trouble etc may come up.

    First & foremost congrats.

Part of the fun/enjoyment/frustration of this hobby comes from hunting/searching. I m sure you will feel even better if you chose & managed to get them all back.

Good on you that you know where your priorities lie. They are only toys, you can always buy them again later.

Most of them, yes. But there will be at least a few that will never occupy those shelves again. That's just the way life goes.

At the end of the day they are just toys and your marriage is far more important. Keep a list of toys you love so that when you have the financial means to get them again you can go after those ones. I am fortunate that I didn't have to sell my collection for my wedding but there are times when I think having too many toys is not such a good thing.

You know what? Screw weddings. What an epic waste of money. We did ours on the cheap and our entire fucking wedding cost less than my sister's wedding dress did. We figured that the thousands we saved would be better used on something worthwhile, like say a house deposit.

Toys are temporary. A woman you love, and who loves you back, is forever.

You made the right choice. You'll look back in years time, after getting back the ones you really, really enjoyed, and realize you made the best choice.

Besides, maybe she'll buy you a couple for Christmas?
