    Hi all,

I have always thought Blaster tape door can be opened just like Soundwave's. But I just acquired Blaster and it doesn't seem to be the case. I can't open it. Is that the way it's supposed to be or is mine defective?

What's more, the rightmost button (play button) is uneven. Making me thing it may be the cause for this. Here's a close up of it.

    Can someone confirm.

    thanks

Yeah, Blaster's door can be opened but with difficulty. I had to take mine apart and rework the spring mechanism. I think the button to push is the one on the far right but my memory is hazy. I do remember you have to apply a lot of force and it's not simply pushing it down but inward as well.

Yes. even on the reissue you have to really push HARD "down and in" on the far right "eject" button. It's a bitch, but it does open.

In my experience, most Blaster work. Push pause, then push stop and eject ogether and it should work.

I seem to recall that early versions of Blaster did not have a working eject button. It was something fixed later on. My original Blaster's door only opened after it was forced. Never opened my reissue so I don't know the deal with that one.

I didn't know the reissued Blaster had problems with the tape door (I didn't get him) but the G1 Blaster that I have has no problems opening the tape deck.

not only is his door hard to open, but it's more prone to breakage than soundwave's. but it does open

Yeah, I did a survey way back in the days of ATT, and I believe it was pretty evenly split between people whose Blasters' doors didn't open out of the packaging, and people whose Blasters' doors did.

I have not opened my vintage blasters door in ages. It does open though. I have the Twincast reissue and that one opens pretty easy.

I heard it was because Blaster was released before he had tapes, so Hasbro sealed the door. Then they decided to release tapes for him, and undid the change.

Which is why you're more likely to find a blaster with a broken door. Kids smashed 'em off.

The door on my vintage Blaster came closed, but I opened it up and reset all the little pieces and magically it worked when I closed it up. Go figure :)

I've always had a tough time getting my Blaster's door to open, so I disassembled him and put a little dry graphite lubricant on all of the sliding parts (some of the plastic pieces in there seem to want to "stick" a bit). He works better now.

I opened my blaster toy up, sanded down some of the notches on it and reclosed it, so his door opens and closes smoothly.

...and now that guy's been sold. :(

I feel like the way to get his door open is a secret to be handed down throughout the ages, the same way the code is for contra ;)
