TRANSFORMERS G1 SLAG Part Lot Transformers Dinobot Slag - eBay (item 170318951412 end time Apr-13-09 16:50:05 PDT) i was curious is it because its red?
Heck I would sell my yellow launcher for $109.99..... Beat that!!! Basically you have just witnessed a WTF auction. They come up from time to time for no reason.... Although, they never come up on my auctions....
2 related questions, How much is an actual Canadian slag worth? Where would you get a yellow launcher for Slag?
The yellow one came with the knockoff prehistoric Dinos. I have seen Canadian Slag which has a red face and white legs, go for over $150 but to be honest he is not worth it. I am looking for one but will not pay that much for a simple variation. This auction is way blowed up!!!!
yeah i was like the only thing different is the red launcher oh well ...i was like am i missing something?> lol....you can probably recast a new launcher in multiple colors
Actually, I'm trying to restore my childhood Red Slag right now (whether this idea makes collectors out there collectively wince or not I don't know) and I've quickly learned that the differences are a bit more significant than many people think...especially if your parts have any chrome wear. One good example comes in the form of most parts of Slag which were to be vacuum metallized: his fin, feet, the parts on his back, his missiles, part of his missile launcher, and his gun. For the Canadian version, all these cast from either white or cream-colored plastic instead of the black one used for his U.S. counterparts. This means that, unless someone's using mint weapons and body parts, it's impossible to simply swap pieces between the two, because the slightest bit of chrome wear will show a buyer that he's been suckered.
Restoring old childhood toys is great when they are really rare. I did that to my Optimus Prime, the French one with red feet. This is what I did to my childhood G1 Hasbro Slag.
I guess someone's a bit uninformed and thought/was told that red Slag is an ultra-rare variant, so the accessories will cost a fortune. Too bad, since I got a red launcher a few years ago for $10!
I have been looking for a red launcher for a while, and see them usually run at least $50, most of the time higher. This is assuming it is listed as the red launcher and not just in a parts lot. So seeing all the accessories and the instruction booklet, I can see this getting over $100.
Then you got really lucky, dude. The person isn't misinformed. I've seen just the red Slag figure alone in fair to good condition go for a "Buy It Now" price of $200.00 U.S.
I have one mint and boxed, and it cost me next to nothing but hey, I am Canadian and you know what they say about Canadians with red launchers dont you?
