I am asking my GF for a new camera and I want a camera which has the abiity to take pictures up close to about a foot away from the subject material.

I paint small miniatures and to show my work and get critique I need to be able to capture both the model's detail and also the model's paint job, without grainy or blurry pictures.

I have heard SLR is the best way and I have also heard macros are the way to go.

Can someone help me out a bit here and help me with some recommendations.

I found this camera being the only non SLR with the ability to achieve macros.
Fujifilm | S200EXR FinePix Super Zoom Digital Camera | 15976371

Any thoughts. If this is the not the right place, please move, or please let me know how has the best information for consult.

    Thanks,

    AA

Did you check out & compares all the online reviews for it?

I hear ya man, I reasearch the hell out of stuff before I buy, especially if it's for the gf.
You'll probably end up taking all the good pics on it anyway.
Maybe make sure the video function shoots good under dark lighting as well.

No rly you pervs, I saw a cool spider one night but my camera video function has no light!
