Read the script review earlier and it's amazingly positive. I really liked MOTU when I was little, tried watching the show again years later and found it did not hold up well for me. I never got to see the newest version, but still I have a few of the 4horsemen statue/figures (awesome redesigns of cool characters) and always like the weird combo of magic, tech, creatures, and humans that MOTU had going on. If they pull this off well I'd certainly go check it out. Heck I still have this poster framed and hanging up. Gotta be the oldest poster I own
We definitely need a new he-man movie. Hopefully one will be so great that we can actually forget about the original one.
actually, in the current movie climate where ppl dig fantasy stuff, a MOTU movie would do reasonably well.
I think it'll happen if the script and look are done right. Just don't let the Speed Racer people near it.
I used to love He-Man. I even bought pretty much all of the more recent Mattel line that was out to support the new show. Bought all the old DVD sets and then started to watch them, and I too was disappointed by how it did not hold up for me. I'm still hoping to see a good movie come out, but I will not get my hopes up.
I can't imagine a He-Man movie that doesn't end up pissing the fans off. I personally don't feel the need for for a He-Man movie but that's just me.
I watched the old one when I was real little and loved it. A few years ago they put out a 10 best episodes of He-Man. I bought it. I couldn't even make it through one it was so awful. The new one kicks major ass! Great stories, great humor, plus they got several of BW/BM VAs on it. Scott McNeil kicks ass. For Merman, it is basically Waspinator. Fits perfectly. Go get the first two seasons on DVD now. Also Orko is far less annoying. Battle Cat doesn't talk and acts like a real cat. Here is a Youtube of the openings also in an episode in the second DVD set they bring Stinkor to the cartoon for the very first time ever. Part 1 part 2
The fact that Skeletor is He-Man's uncle has always been part of the original He-Man mythos. The original show just chose to disregard that part. This was brought back in the 2002 Series which was a lot more closely linked to the original stories.
I really like the new cartoon series. It was far more entertaining than the original series. I really like the inclusion of the snakemen in the series. SSSQueeze is Dr. Claw from the Inspector Gadget series voiced by Dobson. As far as the movie is concerned, I heard about the buzz surrounding the movie on He-Man.org. Quite frankly, I could care less about the idea of a He-Man movie. I really don't think the movie is going to draw a lot of interest from people to watch it, especially for those who are not familiar with it. It's gonna to be the next Bratz.
*Sigh* your not the only one, I saw that "film" in theaters back in the day and even at six years old knew it was ass. Still the new script sounds good.
I loved it. A few eps where they have an "armor of the week" type stuff where they use on of the deluxe toy model versions. But that aside it is excellent. Great writing, great voices, great stories. Just fantastic. A really excellent series. Sadly Mattel killed the show and toy line. They killed it through stupidity on packing. They thought kids are going to want 50 different He-Men and Skeletor versions and will not want the other guys that much. So they over packed He-Man and Skeletor and all the others were hard to find. Soon the shelves were clogged with stuff that would never sell. All before a bunch I really wanted came out (Snakemen, Stinkor, Clawful) So Mattel is run by idiots who can only do a decent job with their girls lines and Hot Wheels...
