I was watching the BW Agenda 3 parter over the weekend and when BW Megs was hovering over G1 Prime in the Ark...it got me wondering if the BW size was anywhere close to say Micromaster size as compared to G1 bots.

In the old Marvel comics, Micromasters were still slightly bigger than humans in robot form...and in BWs we saw their robot size in relation to the 'humans' (I use that word loosely) and they weren't that much larger.

Just some random thoughts as I sit here @ work waiting for 5PM to come!

Yeah, about human sized of bigger Although Optimus Prime's truckcab-sized chest makes BW Megatron look a bit smaller than he probably should have been.

    I took it as follows:

    Maximals:
    Rattrap - A little over 4ft
    Cheetor - almost 6
    Orig/TM Optimus - 7ft
    Dinobot - 7ft
    Rhinox - 7ft
    Silverbolt - 6ft
    BlackArachnia - 6ft
    Tigertron - 6ft
    Depthcharge - 7-8ft
Op Op - 15ft or so..
    Airrazor - 5ft-ish

    Preds:
    Orig/TM Megatron - 7ft
    Tarantulus - 6ft
    Scorponok - 6ft
    Quickstrike - 4ft
    Waspy - 6ft
    Rampage - 7-8ft
    Terrorsaur - 5ft
    Inferno - 7ft
    TM2 Megs - 9ft
    Dinobot II - 6ft

rough guess based on their human size..

Some of those have to be off, BA next to Rattrap shows that they're the same height, Silverbolt should be taller than BA, etc. Dinobot II is taller than Silverbolt by a good bit.

I had them more like this:

    Rattrap 5-6ft
    Cheetor 6ft
    TM Cheetor 6-7ft
    TM2 cheetor 7-8ft
    Optimus -8ft
    TM Optimus 10ft
    Rhinox - 9-10ft

Thinking they were the same size as mammals,
but were'nt they huge to the monkeypeople they were always saving?

Or was that just Megs and his big Dino ass.
Still he was so tiny when blasting G1 Prime in the face with that timetornado

For the most part, Preds and Maximals are about Micromaster sized. A few of the larger bots get close to a Mini-vehicle like Bumblebee and Gears.

This has mostly been covered in the Botcon/OTFCC comics. (which need to be finished in my opinion by IDW or FP as comics or just a collected TPB.)

Using Prime as a size comparison would be inaccurate. If I recall, Megatron was portrayed as being so much smaller for dramatic effect, the idea of the old Transformers as legends and bigger than life.

The proto humans are a better gauge, in which case, most maximals/preds would fall in the 6-9" range, with exceptions like Op Op

^it depended on the episode sizes were often in flux. OP OP and TM2 Megs were they same size when they were boxing on the Nemesis.

consider the fact that proto humans would be smaller than an average human today they would be more like 5-9ish

I personally think the BW scale portrayal of G1 Prime was dead-on, IF you assume that Megatron was the size of a larger human being (i.e. Shaquille O'Neal, etc.). Get a human to stand beside a flat nose truck and the size comparison is fairly similar. I think this is what the animators were gunning for.

Although, I always felt the G1 cartoon made all the transformers shrink when they were in robot modes. For example, Bumblebee was only a head taller than Spike (completely off the mark). And Prime wasn't too big compared to the other cars, like Jazz and Prowl.

I believe the REAL scale between BW & G1 should be as follows: put your Robot Master O.Primal or Megatron figure beside Masterpiece O.Prime for better size comparison.

    I always roughly assumed:

    Rattrap: 4'6"
    Air Razor: 4'6"
    Cheetor: 5'6"
    Tigatron: 6'
    Organic Primal: 6'6"
    Rhinox: 7'
    Dinobot: 7'6"
    TM Rattrap: 5'
    TM Cheetor: 5' 10"
    Silverbolt: 6'
    Black Arachnia: 5'
    TM Primal: 7'
    Depth Charge: 12'
    Op Op: 18' 6"
    Tigerhawk: 12'
    TM2 Black Arachnia: 6'

    Terrorsaur: 5'6"
    Tarantulas: 5'6"
    Waspinator: 5'6"
    Scorponock: 7'
    Organic Megatron: 8'
    Quickstrike: 5'
    Inferno: 7'
    TM Tarantulas: 6'
    TM Megatron: 8'6"
    Rampage: 12'
    TM2 Dinobot: 8'
    TM2 Megatron: 12'

I would then assume that G1 bots would be:

    Minibot range: 8-10'
    Car Autobot range: 13-17'
Big car Autobots (Inferno, Hot Spot, etc): 20-24'
    Seekers: 23'
    Prime/Megatron/Soundwave/Shockwave: 26'
    Magnus/Grimlock: 30'
    Jetfire: 33'

Of course, the size discrepancy between TM Megs and Prime as shown in the Agenda part 3 would seem more than the 26' vs 8.5' I have listed, so who knows.

Also, there is a scale chart on the extra features section of either the season 1 or season 2 DVD, I forgot which.

Some of them, yeah but Rattrap was a HUGE rat in beast mode and megatron was a TINY T-Rex...same goes for the insects and arachnids...Waspinator, Inferno, Scorponok, Blackarachnia and Tarantulas were smaller than the others in robot mode, but their beast modes were still huge.

*edit: Inferno was bigger than the others in bot mode now that i thin about it...wasn't he the size of Dinobot or even a little bigger?*
