I eventually found a store who Taobao would allow me to purchase from. All seemed well.
Paid 4PX to ship it, tracking updated with it's being packed ready. Few hours later I get an automated phone call in Chinese.
The best I can get out of multiple translators is this

AFAIK, the pre-orders on TaoBao close very late. I expect this to be closed in May itself.

Yeah it's probably regarding 12/12 and/or Christmas shopping. There's a tiny notice on the consolidation page and they've extended the receipt confirmation period to 30 days.

Yes, the option (570 yuan) clearly says "for pre-order only and addition coupon not allowed". You can still choose to use additional 10 yuan coupon but I think Thor Toys won't be happy about it as he writes it out very clearly.

I asked for Thor Toys's permission yesterday to pay and has since paid mine but he told me it will only arrive next week.

 

So "scheduled replenishment" means preorder price. Does that mean that those who did not preorder get it for 575 yuan? If so then there wasn't an incentive to preorder here. In fact you pay more for preordering.

Preorder option: 30 y + 570 y = 600 y
Non-preorder option: 575 y

The difference between 570 y and 575 y is less than $1 USD.

Am I missing something here?

In Chinese, both are for pre-order only and 570 is for alipay and 575 is for credit card and other payment types.
