yeah check the ramps and the elevator mechanism.

then if you buy him run out and get yourself some Micromasters or Heroes of Cybertron to display on him.

    awesome sauce.

I'm assuming this will get him nice and shiny? Where can I find it?

Thanks, but go back re-read the previous page. I bought him today. ;)

That's a great price! Gives me new hope to buy one myself again! Thanks. Cleaning it should be fun though. A quetip, toothbrush and some warm water with dish wash soap (be careful with the stickers!) should do the trick quite nicely. It will look proud again until it's dusty in a couple of weeks :p

Welcome to the club, Fuzz! :)

I got my hands on one a few years ago(it was my grail until then). Not nearly the deal you got him at, but it came with a damn good box, styrofoam, and a repro sword. Congrats, dude!

How is that bullshit? What I'm saying is that I traded a Cybertron Metroplex for an almost-complete G1 Fortress Maximus, with a friend of mine over Yahoo Messenger. He happened to have the thing up in his mom's attic, contacted me and asked if I was interested, and I asked him if he'd take a Metroplex for it. He said yes, and almost a week ago, Maximus arrived via UPS.

Now we need not buy such expensive Fort Max because there is hope as Takara might reissue under the Encore

But nothing beats having the original. I basicially consider encore releases as just copies of the originals. Sure you can have "a" Fortress Maximus, but it's not "the" Fortress Maximus.

Very true. I don't actually even own an original Fortress Maximus (just a Brave Maximus), and I would most definitely be interested in an Encore FM, but no Encore has yet been exactly the same as the original release. QC has most definitely gotten worse over the years, even with Takara, so I'm pretty worried that a large Transformer like FM is going to be susceptible to quite a few problems. Who knows: an Encore FM might be comparable to Brave Max in that he will not come with all the original (non-essential) parts like Gasket / Grommet either...
Not accounting for the almost prohibitive costs, I'd probably rather have a second-hand original FM than take a risk on a new Encore FM.

I love the reissues, a big reason is because I love having a mint toy that has not been played with before, I'm OCD like that. So I love the encore line and all the reissues, it's allowed me to get a lot of the stuff I didn't get back in the day.

Fort Max is special though, he is the holy grail of TF collecting. I would love a reissue, but I still might want to get the original. I've been in the market for a FM since Botcon last year, when I finally saw FM in person for the first time.

At this point the rumors are just that, rumors. I remember hearing that HasTak was trying to reissue FM back around 2002 or so, but the "drop test" eventually killed the release. Until we get real confirmation that a reissue FM is coming, I'll keep looking for an original.

I say if they do so, I'll buy the encore version just for shits and giggles.

So which replacement stickers would be better - Repro or TFKingdom?

First things first: Reprolabels is probably the best thing to happen to TF-collecters since the internet.
I have a lot of experience with Reprolabels, and the quality of Reprolabels is top notch; you just cannot go wrong with them. All stickers are cut to perfect size, without annoying parts sticking to the main sheet and tearing when you are trying to take them off the sheet. Also, color and materials are perfect and sometimes even better than the original stickers provided by Hasbro.

Now, I don't actually have any experience with TFKingdom's stickers, and they might be good, but judging from the pictures, the Reprolabels stickers are more complete (as they usually also provide the factory applied stickers which aren't on the regular sticker sheet, which TFKingdom seem to provide).

My advice would be to look past the extra cost (we ARE talking about Fortress Maximus here) and go for the Reprolabels stickers.
