Yeah like the title says i'm getting myself a dog a German Sheppard pure breed puppy, I love those dogs as they are amazingly beautiful dogs and loyal and dependable, but i have one problem, picking a name and I decided to name him after a Transformer character and I want your advice and what name you would pick. Here are the name choices i came up with, remember this is a German Sheppard not a Golden Retriever, so I would like a good name for him: Prowl, Magnus, Rodimus, Huffer, Hound, Brawn, Cyclonus, Screamer, Ravage, Blitzwing, Frenzy, Jazz, Springer, Shockwave, Cheetor, Silverbolt, Thrust

    Blitzwing seems appropriate.

Prowl or Jazz. Anything else just seems TOO transformers to me, if that makes sense. Naming him Hound wouldn't make sense because he's not a Hound dog :D

Name the puppy after you have had a couple of days with him/her and have some level of familiarity with its personality.

Na, I had a Facebook page up awhile ago and sooo many people 'liked' the page I decided to name my son Optimus Prime. It's working out great so far.

That only works if the OP's nickname is Law. :D

Honestly, for a German Shepherd, I think Blitzwing (or Blitz for short) sounds pretty good.

He's not a Hound, so that name shouldn't be up there. German Shepards are amazing Guard dogs, trained by the Germans for that very purpose. With that in mind, Prowl seems highly appropriate. However, they are also one of the best attack dogs, so Ravage and Frenzy seem appropriate as well. Brawn is a good dog name, but that seems like a dog that's a bit more muscular like a Bulldog.

    #1 Ravage (just my choice)
    #2 Prowl
    #3 Frenzy

    My 2 cents. :)

BTW - Seriously hope you didn't buy the pup at shop, but from a responsible breeder instead.

    -Seconded...

As for names, I named our Beagle after... Wicket W. Warwick, after the main Ewok from Return of the Jedi. (We had decided upon the name before picking the dog, as we were originally looking for a smaller, 'fluffier' dog; but when Wicket fell into our laps... Well, the name he had before just didn't work... who the hell names a dog "Nike"?)

    As for Transformer names...
While it may be rather ... simple... I think that "K-9" is perfect, as he was a German Shepherd and all... :D

Otherwise, not many names 'work' with animals...

umm...because we only give Golden Retrievers bad names

I would not name it any of the following: Rodimus, Huffer, Hound, Brawn, Cyclonus, Screamer, Frenzy, Shockwave, Cheetor, Silverbolt, Thrust

    A "responsible" breeder. LOLZ oxymoron.

Why not just do the right thing and save the life of a dog from the pound? As a bonus, you'll drastically DECREASE your chances of complications from inbreeding.

None of those. Name him Erector.

Or do Hound for shits and giggles.
