Back in the 80's I had the complete sets of Superion, Devastator, Bruticus, Menasor, Defensor, Computron and Abominus.

The only combiner I did'nt have complete was Piranacon. Those were the days.

I might consider getting Computron. The only combiner KO I have right now is Devastator. The plastic quality is bad.

Here's the problem though. For us true G1 collectors, this is terrible. I can't tell you how many times I've come across listings for MISB figures and have had to constantly go to mightgaine's site to try and discern whether I'm buying a KO or not. Some of them luckily are pretty easy to spot (i.e. Optimus with the misaligned Transformers logo), but when you have to look at say a Gnaw or Cyclonus and have to decide based on box coloring or tiny print alignment, its bit ridiculous.

The worst part though is buying loose figures or accessories. If it hasn't happened already, its going to start where the accessories from these KOs are going to be filtered in to the general population. While dealing with KOs of certain figures can be worked through, there aren't any markings on the accessories to go by. We're already experiencing it with the headmasters. How many of us now are petrified to go after the 6 jap only headmasters due to the flood of knockoffs now?

In a small way, KOs are ok, as long as they can be separated out from the vintage originals. There's no collectability in these knockoffs. If you go out to a printstore and buy a print of the Mona Lisa or a Picasso for 10 bucks to hang on your wall, that's ok. But just remember, that you don't known the Mona Lisa.

If I pay $1600 for a vintage Computron giftset, I damn straight want to make sure that its 100% vintage. Anything else but that its just a cheap piece of plastic, a worthless copy. It may look good on your shelf, but its a worthless copy. I understand that you are all unhappy that Hasbro isn't re-releasing your favorite G1 figure, but that's not their job to re-release the entire G1 series. If these chinese ripoffs want to put stuff out, and you want to buy them, that's fine, but please at least make them extremely easy to spot, including the accessories.

Frak! Time to get my lazy ass in gear and start hunting down the rest of Computron: I still need Lightspeed and Scattershot (+ Computron parts).

Otherwise the market's going to be flooded with who-knows-what.

If they make a KO Abominus, then all of the G1 KO combiners will be available.
    I think except for Bruticus.

I agree with you about the KO reissues will never have the collectability.

Most of us have seen KO's on Ebay being for sale as originals. That is where you have to be careful. If I wanted to sale a KO on Ebay, I will let it be known it is a KO reissue.

Hope they release the Computron giftset.
But my experience is, they are planning to release a certain TF,
then suddenly, a total other one appears.
Some toy you really didn't expect.
(Reflector, Insecticons also came out of the blue).
I also have to see if they will release a Fort Max.

Well, im all usually a ok with KO's, but I will never get those cheaply made KO plastic crap on bubble cardboard boxes. Ever. :D

Oh...and I dare those KO companies to make a Raiden or Liokaiser one! :ev:  :ev:

In the end of the day, if and when I am able to, buying the original collectible is what's most important to me.
These KO's are for 'rough play'/ not display purposes only! :p

    @ G1_Junkie, don't diss me, yo?! :D

This is good for everyone wanting a mint/sealed copy of the Technobots/Computron. I actually think there is some form of collectability in these higher quality replicas. Granted, they're not the real thing, but they will help fill the void in a lot of G1 collections.

No worries man, they can KO all the shit they want, I'm almost done with my vintage collection ;)
By the way, the "so sad" remark might of been misunderstood, I'm sure some on these boards got what I was saying...

I thought you were vehemently opposed to KOs.

    The whole disclaimer about:

Always cracks me up, because original G1 antiques aside, the KO repros that have been popping up are ten times better than anything Hasbro can cook up, from their own molds no less.

The quality is higher all across the board, as opposed to the floppy joints, softened molds, cheap plastic and poor assembly on Hasbro stuff like TFCC seacons and reissue G1 figures. (Not to mention the prevalence of missing parts)

Compare any TRU release to a HK G1 Repro and the difference is staggering! Why can't Hasbro do this good of a job, again?

Mate, this is exactly how I feel.

This is why I am no longer collecting G1 figures.

I'm not surprised by any of these gestalts that got churned out by the KO Makers...

    Ebay:
i never could find Technobots in the stores as a kid, only got Strafe as a gift because the person didn't read the package about it being a combiner part.

but this is good news. the display box alone will make it a worthy score.
