Well I did it again. I found a figure that I wanted to repaint into my custom character Burnout. I didn't have a great result with Drift due to his scraping issues. But Sidearm Sideswipe had little of that. So I tried again.

So I present for your eyes (via a bad camera, sorry) Burnout version 3.

The only thing I did differently was I used Future as a sealer and I didn't paint things that I knew would just wear off.

EDIT: Scroll down to see higher rez pictures!:

Thanks guys. Good to know someone besides myself likes the work I put into it.

Anti-Venom, do you mean this is your favorite version of my character or your favorite version of Sideswipe? Forgive me if this is a stupid question. I'm currently trying to convince myself to go to sleep.

I'll see if I can find a decent camera some time.

wow, this looks great! does the head have to separate for transformation? small gripes, if you can even call it that....the paint is a bit thick in areas, and maybe paint the feet/toe parts gray or red?

I tested the transformation with the head still attached and the paint scrapped off more than I was willing to let slide. So I touched it up and have decreed that his head will be removed for transformation.

As for the toes, yeah you might be right. Most of the legs are unpainted because I was worried about scraping. Also it would have been a lot of work to paint little pieces. I'll probably touch them up with some paint soon though because I keep seeing that as a fault. But I intentionally didn't want to paint things that would scrape so I didn't do the toes. Thinking about it again I probably should. My silver would look good there I think.

By thick paint, what do you mean? I know you can see the brush strokes on the glass but I think that's more the fault of the paint itself. There are (roughly) the same number of coats of black as red.

The cityscape rocks, the action scenes are great, the robot mode is nice! I hear what you are saying about the "toes" could be a paint chipping nightmare. In terms of the paint looking thick in areas, from the new pics it is the brush strokes i was observing. Despite that, this custom rocks! I love the entirety of it; transition of red and yellow continues to bot mode, the city scape, the actions scenes shows you put love and thought into it all....great complete work of art! Thanks for sharing :)

You guys just made my day. Thank you guys.

The only thing the new pictures don't show very well is the eyes. I tried to get the original paint off the eyes but couldn't. Besides red light piping eyes, while cool, would be a little too much red in the face I felt. So I painted them baby blue and they look fantastic.

Full disclosure of the buildings though. I made them (out of paper by the way) for playing pen and paper games. The roads and the energon cubes though I made just for those pictures but they didn't take that long.

Any idea how I can change my main thread image?

    Domoarigato Mr. Roboto-san.

Just to nitpick, it's gold paint not yellow. Gold is cool, yellow is lame. :p

Love the dramatic contrast of red, gold (I thought it was yellow, too, pardon me) and black. It is much more flattering to the mould; making the bot mode looking less boxy and hides the gaps in the vehicle mode :)

It looks pretty good. The paint does look a little think. If you did several lighter coats, you would eliminate that problem. I like the colors and the added weapons.

Wow, I wasn't expecting this to be revived at all. Thanks for the kind words, guys.

The paint looks lick because I used a type of paint that is ill suited for this type of activity. The paint itself is very thick so the thin coats I actually did apply seem much thicker than they actually are. I have since bought some better paints though I doubt I will be revisiting this figure. I do plan to repaint Prime Wheeljack though with the better paints.
