Does anyone else think that Sam and Carly running towards each other, and the whole rings thing ruined the mood after Optimus killed Megatron and Sentinel?

Sam and his women have always been the focus of the movies, and any cybertronian subplots will always take a backseat to them. But yes, it was pretty jarring in terms of pacing. But then again, the pacing at the end of the films has always been poor.

Nope. They were trying to lighten it up for the ending.

Optimus killing Megatron out of nowhere had already worsened any sort of mood I had at the time, let alone the rest of the movie before that (borrowed the DVD from a friend). I honestly doubt I was really paying attention by the time that scene came around, lol.

IMO, it seemed to lighten up the mood a lil, because it was the end and i guess Bay wanted a happy ending or something.

I thought it was fitting. The villains had met their demise and the their plot to enslave Humanity had been thwarted; it was a perfect time for celebration.

It definitely killed the mood. I thought it was out place and did not belong there.

To be honest, it didn’t really ruin it. It followed the same formula of the previous films, and a lot of other films out there, too. Main battle, resolution of the main character’s arc (Sam) and then the final farewell (Prime’s speeches).

That scene irks me because all I could think is: "they aren't rings, they're gears!"

I thought it lightened it up nicely. Afterall there's been so much fighting and death it was a welcome bit of levity. Plus it was one of the more genuinely amusing bits of the films that aren't crude jokes.

Well, the audience had just gone through a lengthy battle scene that ended with Optimus Prime going apeshit.

THIS. I thought it was fine.

Gears...in the shape of rings. A ringlike shape. I think the audience got the gist of the scene anyways. ;)

I thought it was a bit early for marriage. But that's probably because the movie should have had Mikaela in it. In that case it would not feel so strange. After all they have been through.

But where were the gears from? Were they part of Bumblebee, so he's casting off parts necessary for him to work properly? Were they parts he picked up from dead Decepticons? Maybe they were parts from Ironhide he was carrying around. It would fit the "After the main battle, disrespect a comrade's corpse" theme they had going on. :)

"Bee, You gotta slow down. You gotta slow way down, OK?"

Sam already had told bumblebee that he was pushing things too fast lol

Bay: Okay, two main characters were just brutaly murdered! How do we lighten the mood?
    Writer: Wrecking balls?
    Bay: NO! Something... romantic.
Writer: How 'bout Bee opens his chest and gears and stuff fall out!
Both: And Carly can say 'rings!'
    Bay: Your a genious!

In my opinion, it did sorta mix up the feel of the scene.

It ruined the pacing of the film which effectively ruined the whole movie for me
