Maybe give it that and the battle mask then do it in white with purple tribal tats. Now that I’d buy.

I wonder if the reason he isn't very accurate is because unlike most MPMs, which where designed years after their respective films, MPM Beetlebee had to be made in a huff to co-incide with the upcoming film.

That is exactly why he’s not accurate. The original bumblebee design looked like the MPM. We’ve heard as much from staff members. It’s also how he looks in all the promo material and almost every figure we’re getting!!!

Doors on the torso is too much mass, stick em on the calves to bulk em up

If the hood on the back turned 180 the silhouette would be a lot neater

While inaccurate it still looks like a wicked toy. I don't think you could really achieve this without compromise, and even then, wings are out.

Without seeing the film we don't really know if he is wingless throughout. The biggest gripe is the omission of the Autobot symbol on his forehead! Surely that is in the film.

I bet if you angle the wings rather than have them straight across the back it'll help the silhouette considerably.

No worries. If you didn’t figure out then you’d most likely notice now.
Well that’s the thing. It is better. But it’s not better enough to be a masterpiece.

ALERT Volkswagen just announced that next year in July 2019, the Beetle Bug is being discontinued and manufacturing of all models will cease. This means that the days of Bumblebee transforming into a new Beetle at the auto-dealers is over. :p
Here is the article about the VW Beetle's production ending: Volkswagen is discontinuing its iconic car after 80 years

All VW Beetle's Transform and Roll out for the last time.

It's going to look too small since this figure is substantially bigger

Ya having caught up on the latest news tonight, and seeing both side-by-side I can certainly see where some people are coming from with regards to the Beetlebee MPM. While it is objectively "better" than the deluxe, in the end both are so similar that there isn't really much improvement to warrant the title of MP. Just look at something like SS Optimus and MPM Optimus, one is clearly more of a masterpiece than the other.

Although neither Beetlebee quite matches how he seems to look in a lot of the promos, being much more "chubby" and with more smooth/streamlined exterior panels than either toy. Ironically it seems that the gimmicky one with a blue orb in its chest seems to be the closest to the actual film.

Well, for now anyway the most accurate version looks to actually be this one from the Speed Series in the Energon Igniters line. o_O

Well you can’t say it’s objectively better but it’s an agreed improvement with things such as articulation and kibble management.

The power charge one is pretty nice but it isn’t as accurate since it still has the wings and the giant ball in his chest where the hood should be.
