Interesting read, I was on Wikipedia researching BB and saw reference as so

Bumblebee was animated after Michael J. Fox's performance in Back to the Future.

What is that all about? I continued to read and follow links to a site which explained a lot of the conceptual thinking behind the characters. Some interesting stuff there as well. Haven't seen this mentioned before so, thought I would post.

Also, it's Wikipedia, which isn't very reliable to begin with, lol.

Yeah, I've been looking at it. I'd read it all right now, but, don't have the time right now. I might read it later tonight, after I get back from visiting my dog (they've called, and he might be healthy enough to come back home).

So Marty McFly is the human equivalent of movie Bumblebee, his personality and movements?

NO really, does this mean that Marty McFly's cybertonian equivalent is Bumblebee?

Bee was based on Marty McFly, Optimus was based on Liam Neeson, Jetfire was based on Ray Stevenson.

Old info, but definitely interesting. Optimus has that "Jedi Knight" feel about him, Jetfire has definitely a bit of Volstagg in him, and Bee definitely feels like Marty (especially when he sees Stinger).

Forgot about him. He also had a bit of Spock in him, naturally.

He even said that qoute from the original Star Trek voiced from the same guy who did Spock, Leonard Limoy.

So how can people even say movie Bumblebee is an adult, mature, when he's based on Marty McFly who is an adolescent!

I'm not sure if they're alike since I only saw one film out of the Back to the Future franchise. I don't remember it well since it was a sequel to a film I never saw and I didn't understand it well

But what do they mean by 'based on'? His movement, his personality, his facial expressions, what?

His attitude I think. He's like a youngster, doing teenage things, acting cool and goofy. Stuff like that.

The two are teenagers and act like them and that's as far as it goes. Otherwise Bee would have transformed into a DeLorean (and that'd have been a big no-no, as only Wheeljack deserves to have that alt mode).

It's a pretty shaky comparison to make, given both characters are heavily rooted in similar, more general archetypes.

It's his personality, movements and mannerisms that are based on McFly

Then why are you asking if you're sure?

They aren't, by the way, at least not directly. Both characters are based in the "youthful" character archetype, they're both brash, hotheaded and prideful, but brave and dedicated to their friends, even when stuck in a place that's not their home and that they don't completely understand. There's a long list of characters just like them.

I can't think of any specific aspect of Bumbleebee from the first film that screams Marty McFly specifically. Not like he was playing Huey Lewis and the News from his radio.
