Interest immediately dropped when I saw the useless alt mode. Same deal with Reflector. That's just my personal taste though.
3rd party companies are gonna make me sooo poor this year, adding all this stuff on top of DOTM and Generations.
Oh wow. If they can make it come out like the art and the quality is good then I'll goahead and buy two. Generations Soundwave is cool but he just does't do it for me. Maybe its the size. Judging by the pics, this might be voyager sized!
That was uncalled for: Hasbro has only just released one of the most awesome Soundwave figures in the Generations line. And it really pisses me off how so many people are so dismissive of it because of so many ludicrous reasons like "its not a tape deck" or "its not G1 enough" or "its Prime Soundwave" or "its only a deluxe". NOTE: I'm generalizing, I'm not saying that you specifically are saying this, G_13.
how in the world is that even close to being "uncalled for"? WFC soundwave is definitely not one of the "most awesome soundwave figures".. sure it's decent, but that's not the point.. the point is that it's one out of four figures that are designed based on a video game NOT his G1 design. ALL of the generations and reveal the shield figures are all faithful updates to their G1 counterparts. whereas soundwave is not. so people are allowed to complain that we still have yet to be given an updated G1 soundwave. it's perfectly called for.
Seems like a beautifully hand-sculpted proto (though I don't understand the 'seam' in the top buttons), without the accuracy of machined edges and points. If it does turn out well in production, I'd love to pick one up -and coincidentally offer Guido some kind of separate financial tribute for his vision. The ball-joint in the (our) right arm of the proto appears to diverge from the sketch somewhat, so I'm quite interested in how the transformation works.
Actually the word I should use is practical. I never bought into the whole shrinking deal with Transformers. Soundwave's tape deck mode, Megatron as a gun, Reflector's camera, etc etc. They aren't vehicles or some sort of alt mode that can do something on its own. A car can drive and ram things, a tape deck needs to be used by someone else. I dislike the crap out of alt modes like that.
Ah, that's what you meant. That makes a bit more sense. I think I read on the TFWiki that this kind of microcassette recorder is used by journalists, so at least this form is slightly more useful than the old cassette player, as it would theoretically allow Soundwave to be aware of current human happenings, if not through what the humans use him to record (quotes and such) then at least through what he picks up from being in the proximity of the news people...I dunno, I'm just pulling this outta my ass.
I've always loved this design by Guido Guidi and have wanted a toy of of it ever since I saw the design long ago. I really hope this will be an affordable figure, as I would like to get one of these
I'll probably pass on this one, Hasbro will get around to doing a classics Soundwave sooner or later, he's not exactly obscure.
Yeah, despite my post, I feel the same way. However, I would like the alt mode to be something communications related that's not a satellite or a tank, etc.
we got wfc soundwave and that TRU excl. soundwave. I think its gonna be a while before we see another SW from hasbro no?
