BT/Alternator Audi TT (3D WIP) *UPDATED WITH ANIMATION*

Hey all, just thought I would pop by and share my current project. I've wanted to try my hand at modelling a Transformer that can actually... transform for a while but my time has been tied up doing stuff for Palisdes. Now that's through, this is what I've been working on since.

I started out by finding a pretty low res Audi TT mesh and proceeded to chop it up into the parts I needed for the transformation. At first I thought I could shortcut it and increase the polycount using meshsmooth modifiers, but it just wasn't working so I salvaged what parts of the original mesh i could by deleting problem areas and re-modelling while adding polys, and some parts I modelled from scratch using the originals as a refrence. Here's a pic of theoriginal mesh:

And the current state of the car mode:

There's still a lot of work to do on the lower/rear half (I've just started to rough out the thighs) and I haven't settled on whether the legs a gonna follow the Meister or the Subaru bros. transformation but I think I'd prefer the rear windows on the shin look, plus I think the Meister method would look rather odd during animation with the legs flying and twisting around all over the place.

    Robot mode:

I have a repaint remold in mind already, can anyone name what character the Binaltech-ised headsculpt is supposed to be? (also shown without mouthplate just for fun :)  )

Wow, that's an amazing sculpt. I've been using I-DEAS, which is FEA software and it is such a pain to make nice, complex thing like you.

Well with the faceplate it reminds me of G1 Pipes.

Without the faceplate.... I'm getting a cross between Blurr and Moonracer for some reason.

Actually, the head sculpt reminds me a technobot Strafe, but it's not. I can completely picture the character, but I don't have the name. It could be a decepticon too, I need to check out some pictures.

Upon some looking, I can say it resembles RunaMuck in the seperate eyes and the faceplate, with the venting around the face, but it is not an easy characterization. It also resembes the headmaster Hardhead, and Rollbar.
The sloped forehead is very starsaber, too. This is a hard one to guess.

Damn George, that's pretty cool looking. You got a nice bit of detailing going on there and I can't wait to see the final project.

    Keep it up.

For some reason I got a Saber/Starsaber vibe from it... The faceplate really makes me think that. Who is it supposed to be?

If it is runamuck/Runabout, that could be cool... but I always hoped they would be one of the "Hood = Feet" transformers int he alternator line... I really like their G1 transformation.

Also I want them to be nascar cars to fit their personalities.

    Quick update:

Added missile launcher and did some work on the legs, althoughI may re-think them because its a tight squeese getting them to fit in the car mode. I'm thinking of havingtwo different versions, one with the back of the car forming Subaru style legs, and another version with Acura style legs, then see which version works best.

    Oh I got it!

    It's Omnibot Camshaft!

Come to think of it. He had a pretty interesting transformation scheme. I wonder how that would apply to a truck,,,,hmmmmmm.
