I have seen alot of threads asking about Prime and Megs being "brothers". Theres allot of speculation, "How can robots be brothers?" ,"Brothers in an Arms" , "Created at the same time" .
I just noticed something that I haven't seen anyone mention. In the 84' movie. When Astrotrain needs the "jettison some weight", and the weaker deceptions get pushed out , you can clearly hear a Decepticon(s) say "Brothers! Don't"

DISCLAIMER: This is not an "84 VS 07 Movie" Thread, just something I noticed that the 2 movies have in common

Original animated movie's usage is just a general 'brothers in arms' reference.

The 2007 movie is an reference to the fact Optimus Prime and Megatron are family.

They can clearly lubricate, so I guess it's not out of the question.

I guess everyone seems to forget that in RID Optimus and Magnus were brothers as well.In G1,Sunstreaker and Sideswipe were brothers.

This isn't the first time that the robot brothers card has been played.

If it were fact, people wouldn't be speculating.

Agreed Pun-3X.The movies nor the comics clearly stated that they were in fact "family".

    One can only assume that.

im think they were real brothers, i think that they called each other brother because both of them did rule over cybertron at one point

But it certainly was the most nonsensical. A throw away line at the end of the movie, with no set up whatsoever. It is a perfect example of how bad the script was.

As DaRolla said, Op and Megs were rulers of Cybertron on the same council before their war broke out. So perhaps Optimus' "brother" reference was more indicative of his and Megatron's former ruling partnership.

Um... correct me if I'm wrong, but in the '86 movie in that Astrotrain scene, no one says "Brothers, don't".

It's two distinct voices. One says, "Make room for others." A second says, "Don't!"

Interesting catch. I haven't seen it in a bit, so I really didn't know which is true. I might go back and have a listen myself.

    Yup.

I mean, when Desmond on LOST runs around calling everyone "brother"... do people believe he's family with all of them? Come on... it's an expression and nothing more.

You know, Prime just saw the chances of his world reviving destroyed- so you might think he'd feel maybe a little comrodery with his fellow transformer at the time. I am sure he meant "Brother" as in fellow Cybertronian.

They did say "Brothers, don't!" Its a bit hard to hear but one of the Insecticons or the Seekers did say it. You just have to turn the volume up. :)

Orci & Kurtzmann were asked about this directly at their BotCon panel. Both said that they left it intentionally vague (brothers-in-arms, real brothers, fellow Cybertronians, etc.) to be developed (or not) in later sequels.

It's definitely not canon that Movie Megs & Movie OP are 'actual' brothers in any sense, at least not yet.
