Hello,I have a question to ask,is triple changer Autobot Broadside a giant robot as least same size as Devastator or Omega Supreme or just almost same size as Springer or Rodimus Prime?I ask this question because I saw him appear as giant robot in season 3 The Burden Hardest to Bear and normal size in Headmaster ,so is he appear as giant robot a animated mistake?

    Thanks.

Animation error. The animators couldn't keep his size consistent, like alot of other things on the show.

Was it not in G1 Carnage in C Minor where he lands on top of some decepticons and is huge as the aircraft carrier?

The Dreamwave profiles suggest Broadside does mass shift into aircraft carrier mode, but he's not meant to be significantly larger than other Autobots. He's a slightly bigger guy, but only in the area of a head or two taller than Springer.

Broadside is a clusterfrak of whoknowswhat...
If he turns into an aircraft carrier, he should be the size of Metroplex. No amount of mass shifting should make anyone grow that large just for an alt mode. And his airplane mode would make him the size of the Ark, if he stayed that size.
Then again Broadside's been known to shrink down to fairly average Tf size. So who knows.

Broadside is ginormous in "Thief in the Night", spaciously transporting the Autobot forces and perhaps even Metroplex.

In "Carnage in C-minor", he's huge in Carrier mode, but not quite that big.

In "The Burden Hardest to Bear", he's only seen in robot mode, but he's the size of Predaking and Devastator, as well as able to pick up Scourge who's tiny in comparison, maintaining a semblence of scale there.

So, it seems that Broadside was intended to be huge in the G1 cartoon, the other appearances would be scale mistakes.

Broadside realistically should be as huge as Omega Supreme or someone like that.

    Incorrect. Aircraft Carriers are HUGE.

Broadside would be many multiple times larger than Omega. He'd be many many times larger than Metroplex.

He'd be so large that if all the combiners combined together, he'd still be larger than them.

    Carriers are that huge.

There's your problem - Too many episodes of Season 3 does your head in... :lol

Broadside's cartoon representation doesn't make any sense, his figure isn't very good, but atleast his comic portrayal makes up for it... :lol

Are you a time traveller from early 1986, trying to figure out how to animate this shit? :lol

Broadside? You mean the guy who was destroyed in the FFOD and then appeared as a Decepticon in The Killing Jar?

Didn't Brawn appear then too, next to him?

And what episode was it that had Sideswipe hanging out in the Decepticon HQ, standing right next to Megatron as if they were best buddies? It was a season 2.

Seems when the animators needed more people ti fill in the Con ranks, they decided to use the Autobots. No wonder the war lasted so long! ;)

Broadside - just like Astrotrain, Octane & Sandstorm - is simply a triple-changing failure that was poorly conceived from the beginning. It's almost like they just picked random alt modes out of a hat with the way the paired a stupidly huge aircraft carrier with a jet, a steam engine with a space shuttle, a tanker truck with a passenger sized airliner, and a two person dune buggy with a massive rescue helicopter. Fun toys when you're six, sure, but completely ridiculous in concept.

The guy who transforms into an aircraft carrier and jet plane is the same size in robot mode as those who just transform into cars.

I think I'd keep his robot mode size conistent with his jet mode size but explain that when he transforms to aircraft carrier, it drains a lot of his energy that he rarely does so.

I would think his mass shifting would be similar to Astrotrains MTMTE profile, in that he's compacting all that mass down, making him incredibly strong in robot mode.

In that case, Broadside would be like the TF's equivalent of Hulk or Superman :)

Speaking of Broadside, Devastator, and Carnage In C Minor, remember the scene where the Constructicons are shown to be small enough for Ultra Magnus to hold them in his hands like toys. Ah 80's cartoons, memories.....

This is one of the many reasons I like the marvel comics more than the show, he's a normal sized tf that turns into a small plane and a small boat, makes a damn site more sense than mass shifting.

Agreed. I wish the toy had been a battleship or something, that would have been way cooler than an aircraft carrier.

I reckon that if they wanted a seafaring triple-changer, they should have gone with a patrol boat or something rather than an aircraft carrier, at least it would have been closer to a jet in terms of scale.
