i wonder if when scientists get together to discus whether they can do things like this, or not, if they ever stop to wonder, if they should.

seriously? living metal? that's all we need. MORE life that we can't get along with :lol

what are they going to do with that? why not just cut out the middle man, and shove that living metal right on to the computers that control all the bombs :lol

First this, then it's SkyNet, and then it'll be Planet of the Apes.

Really cool though. Mostly about proving that life doesn't necessarily have to be carbon-based.

We're already here - Calcium is a metal, and iron in blood.

Sometime down the road, this scientist is going to sorely regret he ever created those things.

    That's actually pretty damn cool

First thing i thought of was new-age prosthetics (sp?). Like, replacement limbs, but instead of a gadget to add on to a body, actually grow a whole new limb that becomes part of the body. That would be cool, it'd help a lot of people.

Alternatively, personal robots for everyone. And we can make a law that states that people who make C-3P0 look alikes can be shot. :lol  j/k

While this is neat, these structures are far from "alive".

Actually, if we can make liquid metal, that would mean...

Mercury is a liquid metal and is naturally occurring.

There are also metals whose melting point is very low, such as gallium, which can be melted in your hand or on an especially hot day.

We've been melting down copper, iron, aluminum, and other common metals into liquids for thousands of years.

Make that "we". Seriously though, this is some really interesting and perhaps ground-breaking stuff here.

Wait, doesn't the UK have a communication system named Skynet and now they have living metal cells that can possibly evolve. They're really pushing humanity's luck aren't they. ;)
