i'd mail him to myself personally. make your own barrel plug with nerf darts or orange sticky darts.

mail him or if you want to take a chance pack him in botmode

    funny story
Mid 2002 when I was in college in boston, I was flying home for some reason and I had a bag of GI Joes in my backpack. The security person takes out the 1/18th scale M-16 and goes "i don't know if I can let you on the plane with this."

^So you were the one that got arrested and cavity searched? ;)

If you can't mail him to your destination, I would do two things:
    1. Pack him in Robot mode in your checked luggage (assuming you're checking a bag).
    2. Put the arm cannon/scope in a separate section of the bag, or another bag entirely.

Honestly I'd not risk it and have him shipped to you by UPS.

thanks for the reply guys, although i forgot to state that im bringing all of my toy collections too (checked-in).
I think im leaning towards motor masters' suggestion of removing the scope separately from the body, adding to that ill be garnishing it with
orange plugs just to be safe.

    is this enough?

No, they will tell you to throw it away or point you to the ups/FedEx kiosk. Honestly, you might be better off securing him well and checking him in with a bag. Also worth mentioning is those kiosks will bend you over the table to ship because they know you don't have many other options at that point

One of the locals said that when he was coming back from botcon, he had a G1 gun or two (for some reason I think he said Prowl's gun), and security stopped him and made him mail it home instead of carrying it on. Ridiculous.

    Transporting Firearms and Ammunition
it looks like you can bring it in checked baggage. i'd contact them first and see if you have to declare it/put him in a lock box.

    this is not legal advice.

also, where are you traveling from and to?

i shipped MP-5 in from USA to Germany and back, and got Hegemon shipped to me from China via US mail, and shipped him back. i self-barrel plugged both of them, and both went on surface movement. no issues, but then again no idea if they checked my crates or not. i also had some waterguns in the shipment.

i flew a lot with sonic label Soundwave from 2007-8, and a few times internationally 2012-2014 with his weapons, no issues, and MP Soundwave in 2013 in player mode. no issues there either.

Oh, I am not saying it is widespread by any means, or the norm, just that it has happened and is quite odd that something that small would be interpreted to be against any weapon rules that they have.

Same year 2002, had a Trigun keychain of Vash's pistol. Probably about 1/6 scale. They forced me to throw it away. No common sense applied. Ridiculous.

Where are you going and how much are you moving? I moved across the country and used Amtrak Express (yes by train) to ship like 3 big boxes of toys (among other items). It's a super cheap and easy way to ship stuff if you are in the US.

not stateside country of origin, going to Canada. I think my collections "toys" mostly TFs and macross valks will occupy half a box cargo/luggage (i think)

shipping not an option, im removing the pin on the turret as of the moment :p

I bought G1 Megs at botcon a few years back and flew with him...no problems. Keep him in your checked bag in bot mode and it will be fine.

This was years ago, but they wouldn't let me take Alternators Grimlock on the plane with me. I had a carry on only and they made me check it.

Another time they made me check a small wrench.

So. Long story short I'd ship it as that would probably be cheaper than a checked bag.
