Y couldn't knock out just engineer another eye
We don't know much about Transformer biology. Maybe eyes are just too complex. I mean we can grow skin tissue but haven't been able to make a functional organ yet.
The writers are probably implying that Cybertronians are more than just robots, but living things that sometimes can't have things replaced right on the spot, or even at all.
Besides, I like that patch!
I think starscream's arm is back so y not an eye
Arms are easier to construct? We could probably make a working robotic limb because we have things like servos. But creating an orb that reacts to light and interprets it as various colors? Seems a bit more complex.
They should just have an episode where Starscream & Knockout venture out to steal one of Bulkhead's eyes to replace the one Breakdown lost.
also there's the whole "what I lost line" could mean
A: He want's the 'scar' as a reminder
B: Megatron said something to the effect of "we're not wasting the time or resources to make one"
I just posted this in the episode thread. My assumption is Knockout doesn't have a spare eye that's compatible with Breakdown's design.
That's what I'm going with till the show says otherwise.
Pirate Breakdown is cooler
Good ideas. It had occurred to me that he might want the eyepatch as as reminder of what Mech did to him. I can see someone keeping a scar or dent, but a missing eye? Airachnid even mentioned that he has depth perception problems now (unless that was just snarky battle banter). It seems like too much of a sacrifice for a warrior to make willingly. On the other hand, I can easily see Megatron refusing to make him another one as punishment for being weak.
Someone in a DotM thread mentioned that they were surprised that TFs don't have multiple optical sensors instead of just the two on their heads. It would make sense to have some backups somewhere in case the face gets messed up. The need to make TFs look mostly human takes away a lot of potential robotic advantages...
I took that as banter, nothing more. I'm trying to think if intentionally one-eyed characters (Shockwave for example) have ever had noted perception troubles, outside of again, banter.
Because an eyepatch is cooler and it allows Hasbro to make an alternate headsculpt for a remold.
Also because not having two eyes won't impact much on the character or the story. Starscream on the other hand couldn't get away with having one arm for the rest of the series.
nah, it'll be a $50 3rd party add-on, calling it now
Yeah, I was thinking it was one of these two reasons as well.
I approve of in-continuity battle scars. So should you.
I'm betting the writers just put it in because they thought it looked cool. I personally hate it, but I can see the appeal.
I'm of the opinion Megatron refused to let him fix it as punishment for being captured by MECH, ala Red Cloak in OotS.
I always liked the idea of damage like that lasting so I love it (still bummed Starscream didn't get a new arm)
Epic eyepatch negates any and all complaints on the grounds that it's awesome.
