Please post! I've considered getting the ROTF Thrust. Looks like a great repaint, head looks cool too. But before I buy him, I need to know, is the original any good?

I recently started a thread called ROTF ROTF toyline. I saw breakaway's name pop up a few times. I don't want to buy that isn't all that great.

I understand everyone has a different opinion, some people think Leader ROTF Prime is the best Transformer ever made. Others think he's not near as good as advertised. What I need to know about the toy though, is whether or not he's pose-able, has a fun transformation, etc.

Is Breakaway any good, or what?

Breakaway is better than he looks but if I had to pick one, I would pick Thrust.

I personally don't like him. I don't like the colorscheme (thrust's does look better though), his Ronald McDonald feet, his head way down in the cockpit, and just the overall fact that he doesn't really fit anywhere in my collection. I bought him on impulse, transformed him once, and am done with him. He now sits in a box along with the jet repaints from the first movie, TRU Jetstorm, and Target Universe Dirge, among other random misfires.

But a lot of people seem to really like him, so to each his own. I have finally decided that I am not buying any non-movie movie bots (outside of Hoist to go with my classics), and that was my one slip. To me it is just a matter of where they fit in the display, since I don't really play with them, and I just can't come up with a good spot.

i got him cuz i loved him in the game. the figure has really good poseability. the odd greens and blue doesnt really match his look though. some people use their imagination and say its metallic blue and industrial green but id rather have something that looks like what its supposed to be. he definately deserves a repaint that actually matches what he looks like. and not that "flying turd" repaint they did for him either. everything else about his mold is extremely close to his cgi appearance so hes a big yay for me.

everyone thinks thrust is so great but he wasnt in the game or movie or anything for that matter and i consider him a cheap reuse of breakaways mold.

I like him. He's funny and original..I wish his paint was closer to his videogame model, though :lol

I do think Thrust looks tons better, but the mold is good!

Yay. It's a good mold, but I'd recommend trying to find the darker brown variant, as the deco looks a bit nicer than the tan version.

It's actually one of my favorite RotF figures that I've gotten. The transformation if fun, the bot mode is really well done and it's quite posable. I think that if he'd have had a different head sculpt and better colors he'd be a lot more well-received. As it is, the Thrust re-paint will probably bend people more towards the positive opinion.

isn't much I like about this mold. between the kibble and the head being in the chest, i'm going to pass on both.

I was a hater on that mold for a while. I picked up the tan version based on the video game character and reviews on here though and like it but quickly realized that he would be so much better in the darker brown color scheme. I got one and was right.

He is a great figure. Yes, he is strange but that gives him so much personality that when looking for a figure to quickly fiddle with, recently I have found that I have been turning to Breakaway.

I do highly recommend preforming the head mod(s) as well as shaving off the outer most toe on each foot. Those modifications help greatly.

Personally, go for Thrust. He has Breakaway's mold, so Breakaway has to get some credit. But Thrust has better looks, so he triumphs. :ev:

I think he's about average. I wouldn't say to someone not to get him, but then I also wouldn't be urging someone to pick him up. If he falls into your collection then it's cool, but if you skip him you're not missing anything overly special.

Just call me Mr Middleground. :)

I like Breakaway aLOT, but because I own him I'm a maybe in terms of getting Thrust.

But if you have to choose, get thrust. His paint job looks much better.

Seen it in stores quite a few times, never bought it. The pastel colours just don't work, and the mold looks average at best. I might pick it up if there's a sale on at some point, but I'm waiting for Thrust.
