Anyone got a spare Hound and Cyclonus kicking around that they don't know what to do with?

Actually, I'm sort of amazed that I'm the first person to do this... I just got these figures yesterday (both AWESOME btw), but I was anxious to see if I could get an alternate Brawn transformation out of Hound, similar to what can be done with the Alternator Hound mold. Turns out, you can!

However, I was having a hard time finding a head that was the right size and really seemed to say "Brawn!" to me... y'know, with that gruff scowl and funny bowl-shaped helmet. And then my eyes fell on Cyclonus... sonnovagun!!!

The white plastic block is a placeholder, obviously. I'll need to build a better chestplate and find a way to attach it permanently, though I might have to jack the wheels up a bit to have enough room.

The nice thing about this is that Cyclonus' head is already molded in metallic grey, and if you cut off the ears instead of removing them like I did in these pictures, you won't have the gaps where the ears used to be!

The last 2 pics show the wheels in an alternate position, which also looks sort of cool.

So that's the concept... now I just have to figure out those annoying little details... :p

Smog, you always have some pretty creative ideas man - this is an interesting concept. Would you have to removed the chest piece in order for him to transform correctly?

Love it!:thumbs2:  I like the wheels flat look myself, can he still fold his arms with the wheels down? Also will the chest piece stay on in alt mode? Speaking of, is the alt-mode a jeep like Hound or did you find a way to make him more SUV-like?

That is a really good idea. I now sort of want to do something similar, though I'm hoping that Hasbro makes their own Deluxe Brawn after the hiatus (bit of a pipe dream, but wouldn't be the first time). If you modded it just right, you could probably have the chest stay on him in alt-mode. Can't wait to see what you do with this idea.

The block I'm using here is too deep/thick, so it wouldn't fit. But I think it's possible to build a flatter chest plate on a hinge joint, possibly attached to the crotch plate, that could swing open to stow his arms in Jeep mode. That way, nothing would have to be removed.

However, depending on how thick the chest plate is, his wheels might have to be jacked up a little to leave enough space under the jeep. No big deal.

I know! It's amazingly obvious once you actually see it! When I first realized it, it was like a lightning bolt... I was running around my apartment like a madman looking for my mini-screwdrivers! :)

I haven't done any work on the alt mode yet. I wouldn't want him to get too kibble-heavy, so I'd have to add the cap with as few parts as possible. It would probably have to fold up onto his back.

I like the wheels in both positions... haven't decided which I like better, but the good news is that you can pose them anywhere you want without having to remove or alter them. And they don't affect his ability to cross his arms at all.

If you pull it off without parts-forming, I'll love you a long time :p

    LOL!

I'm pretty sure it can be done. He might end up with a little extra "belly" under the truck, but it shouldn't be too extreme.

I was actually thinking of doing just that!

He needs to distinguish his alt mode from Hound, and plus, it's Brawn... he practically begs for the monster treatment! :)

Heh... I explained that in the opening post. It's a placeholder until I can find/build something that looks more like Brawn's chest. I just figured this out last night, so I haven't had much time to develop it beyond the theoretical stage.

Hmmm you could always use the universe brawn as reference and sculpt a blown up version of his torso to fit over the bare erea.

Yeah, I know I'm not saying much you don't already know.
