Many 'Cons had WIP names during production. Personally, I prefer the movie's De4vastator, a much more fitting name.

Blackout had the most name changes.

Some also had 'aka names' that were used in the script to keep the real ones a secret. Eg Barricade was referred to as Brawl, and the infamous Brawlstator.

And QFT for Blackout. First he was Soundwave, then Vortex, then Incinerator, then Blackout. Damn.

I like Devestator, but I love the name Demolisher, loved him since Armada... but this is a bit confusing.Brawl, Devestator, now Demolisher?

Btw... I've always wanted to know, is Scorpinok different from Scorponok? Or they just the same character; different comtinuaity?

Just to give you guys another, outside perspective , when I showed my wife a leader "Brawl" at a retail store her response was, "I thought his name was 'Devastator' in the movie?" I affirmed her observation and gave her a reader's digest version of this very discussion. Her response was, "Well, 'Devastator' sounds cooler anyways . . . "

yes it does sound cooler. I digressed simply because I would love to see the REAL Devastator in a sequel. :(

Replace 'forgot' with 'didn't know about', then you've got it.

    Devastator

"Grimlock" is from one of the leaked scripts (the one where Barricade doesn't exist yet, and Soundwave - later to become Frenzy - grows from a tape deck to an SUV).

Demolishor is just an old production name for him. Officially he's still Brawl in most material (and as far as Hasbro is concerned). But in the movie and apparently the UK Titan comics, he's known as Devastator.

There are four different characters named Scorponok from three different continuities - G1 Headmaster Scorponok, Beast Wars Scorponok, Energon Scorponok and Movie Scorponok.

There is nobody named Scorpinok (a common typo), but there IS an embarassingly misspelt episode of Energon bearing that as its title. During Movie production Scorponok was mistakenly spelt Skorponok or as Michael Bay likes to call him, Skorponox.

Well from my understanding, Demolisher was mentioned in the early script, then it was changed to Devastator, then changed to Brawl. But Micheal Bay left the name Devastator in the movie, (my guess is because he is an idiot) instead of correcting the name; hence this reoccurring, never ending debate.

However I do believe this discussion will be put to an end IF/WHEN any of the sequels have the real Devastator character.

I think Amazon called the Deluxe toy either "Scorpinok" or "Skorpinok".
