I reject the idea that one should support things they don't like simply because it says Transformers on it. I have seen TF1 twice, ROTF and DOTM once, and will never watch them again. If you want to see how a live-action adaptation of a 30yr old cartoon should be done, seek out the 2010 Space Battleship Yamato movie.

Ha-ha! They were very pleasant surprise! These scenes are done pretty well. Ukrainians were with a good accent (my friend from Ukraine also confirm it). And Russian cosmonauts were played by Russian actors. Chernobyl certainly was different from what it actually is, although due to a dozen awesome shots with Optimus it can be forgiven! :D
Do not forget, Michael Bay said that his grandparents were Russian :)

I wish we got a Transformers movie with as much care and detail as the Harry Potter films (even the weakest film, #5, blows away the TF films)... and I'm not even anywhere near a hardcore Potter fan! I saw HP7.2 and was blown away. More action than TF3, fantastic good vs evil story, all without pantyshots and course robots....

Oh well... Bays gone now, so hopefully some real talent will take over the TF franchise. These car commercials were fun, but in no way was it remotely competition for the HP franchise.

Story-wise, they're good. Probably because they're adapted from seven novels that revolve around story and character development. In terms of cinematography and sheer spectacle, DotM surpassed HP 7.2. The worst part of HP7.2 was how poorly-lit the whole film is; a cheap trick to convey the dark tone. Plus you have to have watched all the other films or read the books to understand any of what happens in the movie, whereas anyone can just walk into a TF movie and enjoy it. Also, HP7.2 was a bit boring up until the final battle part. And it deviated a lot from the actual book, which is frustrating to an old-school HP fan who's read the novel several times.

That's cool. I know Hollywood movies can often seem a bit phony when they set things in my locality. But I don't think anyone expected them to location shoot in Chernobyl for the sake of authenticity. I suspect they might've used locations in Detroit as a stand in. There was some talk that the Chinese were unhappy with ROTF showing dirty industrial areas in the Shanghai opening scenes of that movie, so it's hard to know how things will be perceived by foreign audiences.

Of course US Astronauts like Buzz Aldrin got to meet Optimus Prime, whereas the Cosmonauts were shown in some dive bar. Just the same I was glad the whole Russian side of the space race wasn't shown as some sinister plot. I suppose they balanced things out a bit by having Dylan as the American baddie.

All that we need is for it to be in Japan and China for a few weeks and bam, we have 1 billion. Meaning that, it doesn't even need US viewers to make 1 billion.

Why the hell is Japan getting so late. If anyone should have gotten to see it before us it should've been them. What a load.

At least with them coming out so late in these countries and the fact that they are at practically at 900 million, we can be 99.99% sure that it will reach the 1 billion mark.
