I decided to go through all my stuff and keep only the things I really want or things I feel have decent value. I kept every box from my entire TF collection.. movie stuff, classics, animated, masterpiece, fansproject and a few various others. I'll definitely keep boxes for the fansproject and masterpiece line, but I'm really tempted to chuck all the others because they take up so much space. Are the boxes worthless, or should I hang on to them? All opinions are welcome!

Boxes are just meant to keep the toy safe... after that, they are a empty cardboard box.

I keep Takara boxes, especially the Masterpiece ones. But most of the other ones I just throw away.

They could be used as backdrops.

I started keeping them 2 or 3 years ago, and now I have 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 boxes filling up every square inch of my room.

I keep all of the boxes, and then I put those boxes into a bigger box,and then I put the bigger boxes into an even bigger box. It's never-ending.

I don't know why I keep all of them.Sure I should keep the boxes for good stuff like MP and the such, but I have all these "movieverse" boxes that are taking up so much space. One of these days I'm going to have to go through all of them and thin the herd.

If any of my toys need to go in the garage or something (like all my Beast Wars, RiD, and Unicron Trilogy stuff), I like having them back in the original boxes. Having them in the form-fitting plastic or styrofoam they came in beats having to go crazy with packing peanuts or balled-up newspaper or whatever.

I keep the packaging. When I'm done playing with the figure, since I don't have room to display it it goes back in the box, which also happens to be a really good dust protector; it's much easier to dust a package than a figure.

Unless it's something like an original G1 toy I usually trash the boxes. Not that I could ever afford a G1 toy with the box.

I keep them, unless it's an open double of one I already have a sealed one of.

if they're on a card, I keep the card and nametag in a folder and throw out the plastic box.

I've decided to keep the really nice boxes. I went through and cut all the bios and stats and stuff and set them in with the box of card backs. And then I just tossed the whole lot. They were nice, but what did I really need them for? I only kept the box for Amazon Unicron, Alternity Ultra Magnus, and Masterpiece US Skywarp.

It starts off a fine thing to do, keeping the boxes, but eventually you're just to taxed for space.

I'm slowly getting rid of the empty boxes. The ones I will definitely not throw out are RiD, BW Neo and Alternity.

Funny this was brought up as I just did a huge box purge this weekend. Realized I had no intent on selling my stuff any time soon and the packages were just taking up space.

... but why throw something away that you paid for when you can just as easily stash it in your parent's basement for the expected eternity?

Sell them if they are for rare/hot items, give them away, or chuck them.

I voted "keep". I'm mostly an MISB collector, but I do keep the boxes of the ones I've opened. I really regret throwing away many of those nice boxes before, especially the Encore 10 one.
