My MP Dinobots, Soundwave, Quakewave, Mp-10, and Mp-36 boxes eat up a ton of space. I can't imagine folks with larger MP collections, or boxed G1 collectors fare with storage. I am filling out my seekers, and a couple Autobots now.....l will try and buy loose/complete when l can...

Pro-tip: Put extra accessories in Ziploc baggies.

I have started hoarding packaging...if it is vintage or high quality. I toss the plastic bubble ones immediately.

    Easy.

Sell the MPs, boxes and all, and collect something else. :D

Before, I used to store packaging. then I realized it's taking up space i could use have used to display more toys, so I started throwing them away.
In that regard I'm thankful for the collector cards included in the recent toys since it allows me to save the art from the packaging.
As a rule of the thumb, I only save japanese packaging (so when it comes to TFs, my lone takara fig, Nightbird) because I really like how those looks.

I’m with you guys who are struggling with this.

I too only keep the instructions/cards from modern figures. Since CW, I’ve saved one leader class box and keep the whole line’s paperwork in that one box.

But yeah. TRU Soundwave’s box for example,is a bloated waste of space...yet the reasons to keep it persist.

Similar problem with the book style G1 reissues from the early 00s. They’d be cool if that was the end of the collection...instead, Ive had to haul them around for 5 years because they’re just slightly too nice to toss out.

I put them in the basement. I've never thrown out a TF box ever, since 1984.

I have the space for the boxes, for now, but I will probably let go of the "less useful" boxes at some point in time.

i keep some of my boxes because I swap out figures to display often
its very nice to have original boxes, but, if you display all / and plan on keeping your figures

why would you hold onto box --- just to be complete ? or maybe in the future hoping to sell for big money?

My mother wanted me to throw all my boxes away even though I was hiding them because they were parts of the figure for me. It broke my heart but she finally found them amd thrown them away.

I now keep all my boxes when I buy new figures. I even keep the parcel they come into sometimes to protect the box!

I remember that when I was a kid I liked very much toy's boxes and hated that my mom threw them away. Now I jokingly blame her for the loss of thousands of euro since I can't sell my G1 transformers in their original boxes.

I hang onto the boxes because I don't have a reason to get rid of them, and there is a possibility that I will need to sell some parts of the collection, in which case, I'm sure the purchaser will appreciate the fact that I kept the box.

It'll get to a point, however, when I can't hang onto the boxes, at which point I'll likely crush the internal packaging, keep the inserts/extra bits, and collapse the boxes.

I keep the nice...and I mean NICE ones. Like the reinforced photoboard slip-over with magnetic display window.

I recently got tired of carrying 20 years worth of old cardboard. I clipped out tech-specs, nice art, and the well-defined faction symbols and tossed out all the excess. It was cathartic.

With the clippings I'll grab some thick binders and page protectors and make scrapbooks of sorts for each era.

I'm with you to some extend on keeping the boxes that protect the boxes.

I'm thinking more stuff between beast wars and Cybertron.

Still over 10 years old but not Vintage.
