"In case you have not heard, Southwest airlines is having a $39 each way sale from selected markets. They fly into Orlando, so if you have not booked your air, check it out! There are also some airlines that are matching this sale. You must book by Thursday, February 12. We will probably see more sales before the summer gets here. Convention registration forms will not be ready until late Feburary/early March. We are trying to complete the online reservation system for this year but, no promises as of yet. It is very complicated code. The Swan hotel continues to take reservations. So far we have over double the room nights booked for this convention than last year. Hope to see you all in Orlando! Brian" Just got this email concerning Botcon, looks like we have to wait a little longer for registraion forms...
I SO hope they get that code up and runnig (and preferably tested and secure) by the time they open prereg. I'm not looking forward to spending half a day trying to send a fax again...
I used the link on their website and then plugged in my departure, arrival, and destinations and nothing came close to $39 each way. Is there some sort of code or something Im missing?
Well, for Southwest at least, you have to book for travel by May 25th (according to Southwest's terms and conditions through the link) so this particular sale is useless for Botcon.
Yea, I was looking too and all I can get is One-way at that rate. To get it round trip bumps it over $650 for me and my wife.
Well, that sucks... Hopefully some kind of discounted rate will pop up before then or it's a road trip for us, LOL!
I'm sure it was stated with the best intentions but the only $39 flight Southwest has into Orlando is from Birmingham and Ft. Lauderdale. And, as previously stated, you have to fly by May 25th. Not really applicable for Botcon. Special Offers - Air Specials - Southwest Airlines
Well it's great promotion for those who wish to get there REALLY early for Botcon. "I spent $3000 in hotel, but I only paid $39 for the flight... Ah Yeah!
Yeah, no way in hell anyone is going to get my butt from Oregon to Orlando for only $39. Maybe Fedex, but that would be a stretch considering what their rates likely are for 200 pounds.
They still look to be rocking a cheap rate. 97 from Indianapolis. And no charge for checked bags will save another 20-50.
Wow, they might have the code up and working...sad. This takes minimal effort to do and can be done in under two hours. Im willing to bet $50 that the servers will crash within a few minutes of registration being open.
If you going to make a post like this wouldn't it be a good idea to link to or mention the actual date of the convention ? Rather than just asume everyone knows.
Official Transformers: BotCon 2010! And does Pete mean tomorrow or Friday when he says Thursday the 12th?
Well if you go by Southwest's website the last day to take advantage is by tomorrow (thurs.) February 11th.
well shit.. i wish i had known this a few weeks ago.. might have changed my mind about going to orlando.
I could go to BotCon this year but since I'm underwhelmed by the Con sets the last two years, didn't go last year for the first time in 10yrs, I'm not going this year. I'm so over the reusing of Energon & Cybertron molds. Over it. Can't wait for a reason(s) to get back to BotCon down the road.
For anyone that wants to go, but hotel cost may be an issue, I may have some room. I have a 2 bedroom villa at a resort thats right there by the con. It can sleep up to 7 (not including the MS, which is mine). 2 baths, kitchen, all that good stuff. Pm for info. Just waiting. Had some friends from elemantary school that we all collect togther and planned on going together, but they are starting to drop like flies, atm....
