I still think that Universe Ironhide would have made a good Impactor figure.

I like the idea of a new Thunderclash, but the execution could have been better.
The teal parts should have been a little less bright and I don't like the mold. I had energon Rodimus and sold it, because I hated the mold. And why didn't they put the elite guard autobot symbol in the eagle?

 

You mean kind of like how it was on the original toy?

Because that would make sense and be awesome. Two things they clearly were not aiming for with this repaint.

First its not Hasbro if Hasbro had done this I'd be kinda sorta happy. FP did this and there record with homages is utterly fantastic. Highly creative and quality is always first class. Then there is this. The mould clearly can not carry the colour schemes for both modes due to the arangements of parts on the cast sprues. The only reason for choosing the mould was because the head sort of worked.

Absolutely, I know they couldnt do it exactly but they should have used paint apps to do some of it. I especially wish they had done the legs like yours. Just move the red paint from the lower leg to the upper.

Its not close to 100%. The white is right, the teal is probably right. The reds to dark, the windows are blue it only has one blue which is not close to either of the TWO blues TC originally had.

They could have done all the teal parts in dark blue.

Well how would that fit on both symbols?

Make the chest insignia larger and it wouldn't fit on the spoiler. Keep the eagle symbol the same size and put the Elite Guard insignia inside it and theres a lot of blank space on the chest.

 

I wonder what the ratio is for Iacon to Primus sets. Could it be that since most of the sets that were sold were done so within the first two days of registration opening, and it's been over a month since then, and it only went from 60 to 87, that they are worried about not selling the whole stock, so they reopened (waiting list) the iacon option? How many cancelled orders have there been? and if there weren't the 25 dollar fee per package, how many more cancelled orders would there be?

course there's no answers, but i can say, for myself at least, that if i were not attending and had placed an iacon order, i would've canceled awhile ago.

 

Poor Thunderclash, you deserved better. The Energon rodimus mold is one of the worst molds ever. Consider my money saved on this set. Just bleh.

breaks up the white is closer to the original and incorporates a bigger elite guard badge.

 

I'd like to see the more of the shattered glass timeline for next year. In classics/universe molds!!! Anyone else?

That just makes it look like the elite guard symbol is shooting blue flames out the wings, and completely loses the bird-ness. I'm not sure if there is a best way to combine them, but I think the figure's way is better than that.

 

I like the colours, placement could've been a little better, and I do kinda wish he got a new head...

How far in advance does FP/Hasbro have to plan the manufacture of the sets? If it's over a year ago (probable) to even 2 years ago (possible) then neither FP nor Hasbro would have forseen how hard the economy has hit people, and thus the lower than usual (for being 2 months since reg opened) Primus-pkg buying.

Between the toy-cost going up, and being in Pasadena w/ airfare not getting any cheaper, a LOT of people that I've seen going the last few years are not, as well as many of my Net-friends who were planning on it, but location + airfare = nogo.

Hard to believe that they STILL have 2005 sets available.

 

Ah, it took me a little while to see it, but all the little aspects of the original are there...





-White chest w/logo (which should have been larger)
-Gold feet
-red legs (not exact, but the running red lines on the new one replicate this look, the grill panels add to it)
-blue hips/codpiece with white and red details
- two-tone blue arms, with the wheel on Rodimus making up the bicep piece.
- alt mode has two turbo boosters on it

I definitely see where this came about. I think maybe it seems like there's too much white on the figure, but that's probably a result of having to balance the transformation/alt/robot/deco issues.

I am sorry but it looks like someone ate a lot of cotton and puked all over a white mold of Rodimus... Alright who does this look like.
