Who do you think Clench's base figure will be? Judging from this image, I think either Universe 2.0 Ironhide or Hound

Most people are suggesting Universe Onslaught. But, as the opposition leader Spark is a Voyager, I think there's a fair chance that Clench will be a Voyager as well--and I don't think any Voyager mold fits the bill as well as Cybertron Mudflap:
Note the similar nipply areas on the chest, the extendable armament, the... hmm, they don't really have any other similarities. Still, the only other Voyager mold choices they have that are unused, contemporary-Earth-alt-mode-types are Cybertron Quickmix (nah) and Energon Ironhide (PLEASE NO).

If it is universe onslaight, its going to be a pretty big giftset. It would make me one bit of sad for it to be a classics prime redeco.

I hope it's the universe Onslaught mold. Then I'll probably buy one on ebay.
I love the Onslaught mold and with a new head for some variation it would be awesome.

Isn't the bendy prime mold FUBAR? I thought at a Botcon panel a few years back Hasbro said the mold deteriorated and wouldn't be used again.

    I could be crazy though.

Bendy prime was used in Cybertron and then recently redecoed in the Sam's Club Cybertron 5-Pack.

Hadn't considered Mudflap before. It's a better candidate than i would have expected.

Not sure. He needs to be a large truck, but there aren't any that have the front of the truck end up on the shoulders. It just doesn't scream "Clench" to me if either of those qualities aren't there. That said, I have no idea who it could be.

mudflap's alt mode just doesn't seem to work. I also agree with the "Onslaught being a little to big" thing. I could almost see it being Energon Ironhide. If it is, I hope to God they do something about the head in alt mode.

Whoa, what did you think when the joke pics went up?!:lol

Well, folks, and then there was one. Any speculations on Sky-Byte? Here's what we know so far:

    1. All four figures revealed so far are Universe molds. Probably meaningless, but it could be indicative that FunPub has "retired" the Unicron Trilogy.

    2. Two of the four figures have new head sculpts. Unless the other head remolds are in the souvenir sets, Sky-Byte gets the third one.

    3. Mold size breakdown is: one Ultra, one Voyager, two Deluxes. If Sky-Byte is also a Deluxe, it will mark the first time ever that FunPub has repeated the size class mix from a previous year.

    4. Undoubtedly the leading candidate for Sky-Byte is Energon Sharkticon.
    Pros:
    a. It's a good match to the character.
    b. The size of the mold makes sense in conjunction with the other figures.
    Cons:
    a. Sharkticon's paint scheme already evokes Sky-Byte. There wouldn't be much variation for FunPub to give it.
    b. The story apparently takes place on present-day Earth. The other four figures are contemporary Earth vehicles. Sharkticon is not.
    c. The mold has NEVER been repainted. Suggesting that the mold is not available?

    5. A distant contender for Sky-Byte is Universe Powerglide.
    Pros:
    a. It's an out-of-left-field choice that would surprise everyone.
    b. It's in keeping with the all-Universe molds motif.
    Cons:
    a. The size makes it next to impossible to fit in the box. Two Ultra-class figures in the boxset=extremely unlikely.

I will now submit a new dark horse candidate for Sky-Byte: Cybertron Evac.
    Pros:
    a. Evac is an Earth-normal vehicle.
    b. As a Voyager mold, it's a logical progression from last year's 1-Ultra, 1-Voyager, 3-Deluxe set.
    Cons:
    a. Possibly difficult to fit a Sky-Byte-ish head remold into the transformation.
    b. ???

Anybody want to jump in with their thoughts?

FP can't retire the Unicron trilogy. Next year the Generations lines will be too new and they won't be able to use any of the movie stuff.

I really don't think you have to worry about this being part of FP's considerations. Remember last year's pre-Earth, on-Cybertron and other planets setting? Now, do you also remember the box set toys, where only one of them was a vehicle that looked Cybertronian? And anyway, you can get away with calling Sharkticon a submarine, even if it's futuristic looking. I wouldn't say it's distinctly Cybertronian.

I hope that the Cyb Evac mold is only used to make an at-con exclusive of SG Galvatron. That's about the only character I want to see it as again.
