Just got this e-mail:
Hurry up if you are still interested.
Scott McNeill will be at BotCon 2010
Waspinator, Dinobot, Silverbolt & Rattrap - Scott McNeil Will be at BotCon 2010
Edit: Whoops added an extra L in his last name.
Pete has also made the following comment over at the TFCC boards:
"Also, this has been the most successful set to date as this is our biggest production run yet. Those numbers will be revealed at BotCon."
Even though it hasn't been the smoothest of rides, I'm happy for the Botcon crew. It must make them feel good to know the set is a near sellout. Not only financially, but also the knowledge that their creativity was well received.
I for one am damned happy to see Scott back. He's always a blast to have around and is always very clearly enjoying the presence of the fans and happy to hang out and interact with them.
That's pretty cool. I know last year had more sets than any previous year, by at least 250, but they weren't exactly a big hit. Still had a few dozen left after the con was over, according to Blackrock's stats. So, considering last year's set didn't sell out, I didn't think they'd take the risk of making more this year (looking at the stats, they've always made less on even numbered years than on the year prior). So, the fact that this is both the largest amount yet -and- it's on the verge of selling out, has gotta be big news for them (especially considering how big of a fuck up the registration came close to being).
I'm hoping this also means there's more of the at-con souvenirs than usual this year, so I have a higher chance of getting my hands on them, lol
YES! Now to decide what to buy to get signed.
Is it possible to order more than one Iacon set? Also, is it possible to amend an Iacon order later to add an extra bagged set (not box set)? Does anyone know this?
Well, "not a sell out" could still (in theory) be a "bigger hit" given the fact that there were (as you acknowledge) more made in the first place.
That said, I agree with you that I'm impressed that they increased the production number vs. last year.
I'm referring not only to the fact that they didn't sell out, but also the fact that their value on the aftermarket has gone down instead of up. Granted, that could happen with this set too. If it has the highest production run, that means there'll be more of them out on the streets, and thus lower supply and demand. But, the actual price people pay for it will still determine if it's a success.
(for the record, I'm a fan of the 09 set. I'm kinda glad it's current value is so low, cos that made it "the gateway set" for my Botcon collecting habit )
I need to try to order me a non attendee package again tonight...when I tried the other day I was going through the registration steps and never saw any 'not attending' option like I read there would be so I aborted since I didn't want to order the wrong thing....
The non-attending option isn't on the first page. It tells you to pick between "attendee" or "exhibitor." You pick attendee, and on the next page it has a "will you be attending?" option and you select "No." Then on the next page, it allows you to select the Iacon Package
Yeah I realize it wasn't on the first page....I scoured every page I went through for the non attendee option and never could find it. I'll just try again tonight
Excellent! Scott McNeil is currently at the top of my list of voice-actors-of-my-favorite-characters-that-I-haven't-met-yet. This also increases my hopes that they will have an actor for each of the Hall of Fame inductees or potential inductees to give an acceptance speech in-character.
Hahah, good lord, Scott's going to think I'm stalking him... I'll see him at Metrocon the next month, too.
Anyone wanna sell a Breakdown when they get their set???
I think Breakdown is the only one in the set I am keeping...
I wonder if they increased the number only because it's at Disney World this year. I know they're always "high" on their own products each year but after seeing how they didn't sellout last year as quickly as before I was surprised they increased the number too. It's gotta be the Mickey factor.
Awesome news about Scott being at Botcon. It's been a while.
Hmmmm. I wonder if the group pushing for Dinobot to be the 5th. Hall of Fame member might just have pulled it off.
