That was fast....
Well, if the Thursday class recently sold out, that hopefully means I got in.
Has anyone gotten their second email saying that the form was processed and their card was charged?
I'm new to collecting but those sets seem a little too expensive to me. It would have to be a figure that I really really wanted.
In the 5 years I've gone to FPs botcons, I've never received an email saying they charged everything. I just check my account and see the charges. I know they email people when there is a problem with their form, i.e. class is closed, credit card, etc.
Yeah, I have never bought a complete set before. I have acquired a few off of ebay and friends over the years but I just cannot justify those prices. Good for the Botcon people though.
Apparently all the negativity toward price hikes, a bad mold choice, and an ancient fax system still don't deter the fans. THIS is why FP sees no reason to change. Sure, you whine and complain, but then bend over and take it anyway while they sit back and watch the profit roll in. For every fan that chooses to not support them anymore, ten more rise up in their places for the kill.
This is a very sad state of events indeed.
I wasn't aware that you got an email for that. I thought you just found out in the mail if you got in or not.
Oh, you're right. I misread that as email.
Okay. How many of those boxed sets are accounted for by scalpers/dealers ordering them 20 at a time, though?
We have no way of telling how popular/valuable this set is/will be until the con, or maybe a few months after.
I get what you're saying...but many of us go for the show (and incorporate the experience into a vacation), and not just the toys. I think the system needs improvement, yes, but at the same time I'm not going to stay home just because it has flaws.
So much for me getting my first BotCon set. No way I can save up enough money before they sell out now.
Sorry to hear that.
That's really fast for a set where we've only seen 1 figure and just know the mold for 1 other. Of course, this might just be an initial burst (scalpers, dealers, people who always buy the BotCon set, etc) and then it'll level off, which is what happened with the Club-exclusive Seacons, IIRC. Be interesting to see what else the set has, but I'm not going to jump and order it right now.
We are getting a TON of single orders. The number of separate registration sheets this year is crazy. So no, it does not look like we are trending any differently than years past.
My gut tells me that this set wont last much longer.
So, has anyone's card been charged yet?
Well Petes said it not scalpers, so (dispite what Ive already posted about it being scalpers) my next explanation for the speed is people still hoping for a movie screening well in advance of general release and the fact LA is a great location to incorporate an holiday in to the convention. Thats what Im doing and because of those two reaons my brother and one of his mates are coming along too which they wouldnt have dsone for certain if it wasn't LA or Florida/Las Vega/ New York etc.
Unless, they're more efficient than last year, it's usually been about a week before my card has been charged.
you know what happens when the fan base dont like something? we moan on the net and don't buy it and its been working fine for years and looking at how much sets go for and the demand for them I'd say FP know exactly what their doing.
personally I don't have any botcon toys but I wont bitch about it since I know many people are happy with their sets and kudos to them
