Yeah I don't remember a time that all of the figures were known before registration went up.

    Indeed.

    Hahahahahahahaahahah

Man, you're giving them WAY too much credit. There's no way they're doing anything that sophisticated.

I'm pretty each year they have to go back in and hand tweak all the code for the new package options and prices, instead of having a system where they just define what it is, and the code doesn't need to change.

    Welcome to cold-fusion.

I agree, that'd make a ton of sense from the consumer perspective.

From their perspective though, it probably means an instant server crash since you get everyone all at once. If they send out the announcement when it is up, there's a bit less of a rush since it's spread out as word gets around.

Ultimately though it's an argument of do you tell people a precise time and risk that initial server surge, which might crash the server, waste a bunch of people's time and lead to people not getting the classes they want, or leave it vague and let word circulate, reduce the server stress at the risk of inconveniencing people who end up spending whole days sat waiting for that one email to drop. And that way, you always inconvenience those few people who get their email late.

No dispute it should be the beginning of the week rather than the end though.

I would love to sit in on one of FunPub's meetings or something; maybe just watch what they do in this exact situation.

Registration includes getting (Primus package) or not getting (other packages) the BOXSET only. Customization class and tours are also included on registration.

I should be driving home now...but due to their teasing, I'm staying at work until I can register, so I can try to get in a class this year.

    Ugh.

Let me put it this way. I am about to leave my day job. I wanted - planned - to go home, take apart the light assemblies on my bike, and take the bulbs down to the parts shop to try and find LED replacements for them all. Will I be doing that? I don't know, now. Instead, I'll have to sit and haunt a damn computer screen, and stress on the way home as well.

I'd agree with this EXCEPT that there's some stuff that's in limited supply - namely, the customizing class.

I wrote some Cold Fusion based applications...in the late 90's!

Seriously, at least it would lend some credence to the whole "oh, this registration stuff is SUPER tough and complicated" nonsense they went with 2 years ago when the system was new. Yes, it is complicated when you're dealing with the huge pile of spaghetti code I'm imagining they have. "Hey, let's put our business logic right in the presentation layer!"
