I joined the club yesterday to get the freebie and discount. Hopefully the registration goes live before 5 CST.

I messaged them on twitter, asking if it may be best to wait until Monday, so their customer service line woul be open all day. I think it was 2010 registration where it went live around 4:30pm, people started having issues with the site/checkout process and their CS department closed at 5pm.

You would think that they would of had the testing done long ago now.

LOL, no, they won't wait. They do it the same way every year. Live on a Friday between 3 and 4:30 Central time, shut down for the weekend at 5PM central, deal with the mess Monday...

Isn't any kind of free publicity usually deemed good in sales? Even if it's frustration on the end of those who are purchasing the item.

I'll probably get a Protoform package later, if I can make it to the show... does anyone know if those can sell out? or is that unlimited, since they're no toys attached?

That would make a lot of sense. I half hope that they might do this. Even though I'll be out of new galleries to edit for our Transformers Toy Galleries by then.

I can't recall them ever selling out - I'd imagine the limitation there is down to fire regulations or something, i.e. "we're packing in more of you than can physically fit in this dealer room and it might hinder an evacuation in event of a fire".

I have no intention of buying a boxset, but why aren't they released images of the final two figures before you have to commit to buying them?

unless it's a new system, which needs kinks worked out... though, then it would still make far more sense to say "get ready for next monday" than "soon"

also, not knowing anything about how these online systems are setup, if it is the same system as last year, shouldn't it not need to be tested again?

i don't think they've ever released all the pics before registration goes up... it's always just the names, and maybe a few images...

It's possible that they are doing server load testing, which they might be basing on the amount of hits they got from previous exclusive announcements - which is data they would not have had until said information was released. That's the only thing I can think of, otherwise it's the same basic setup as the previous year, presumably.

Unless they're tweaking those blasted time-out timers to figure out the optimal fill-in time for the forms? That's the kind of job you might be doing right up until the last minute.

I agree that what they should do if they get the system good to go today is to hold off until Monday, and actively post "Registration will be going up at this specific time in this timezone". before going home on Friday.

Putting it up on a Friday, RIGHT BEFORE everyone goes home for the weekend, seems downright stupid. People are going to have issues with registration - this isn't speculation but a certainty because it's an electronic system and there's people who ALWAYS encounter errors. Not knocking those people - it's a statistical certainty is all.

Fubpub and new system? :)  I agree, some changes would of had to be done but it should of been very minor.

I believe last year was the first time they were able to showcase the figs before registration went live.

I'll be wise and hold my tongue on that subject...all I will say is that this is a company that still relies on ancient Cold Fusion code and makes similar choices in lots of situations where they could save tons of time, trouble, money, and headaches for everyone.

LOL, a new system...see above about Cold Fusion...
