Hi everyone. This will be my first Botcon. I'm bringing my 7 year old son with me. I've not heard anyone else mention bringing kids, is this a bad idea? Next, are there any other hotels nearby? I don't know anything about Lexington, other than how to get there. I'm trying to save money, but am nervous about rooming with someone I've never met and having my son with me. I'm sure that I'm forgetting something, but that's a good start. Thanks.

Nah it's a great idea, last year I was joking around with some lady's kid saying Megatron can beat Optimus Prime easy *Talking about Cybertron*

Lots of people bring their kids, hell it's a toy convention right? ;)

Can't answer this one,I know the Hyatt's full. But look at the BotCon website. There's a secondary hotel where you can get a discount

The reason I'm asking is if you check expedia or hotels.com, you can find MUCH cheaper hotels that are "just minutes from downtown." But, that doesn't really tell me much seeing as I don't know schmidt about Lexington.
Thanks for the other info, Shaun. Looking forward to meeting you.

That's how I booked my trip,I used Expedia Canada. And I did it before the Hyatt filled up so I had a guarenteed spot.

BTW,if you see a black guy w/tinted glasses, that probably me.Feel free to tap me on the shoulder or something:thumb

If kids don't help keep the Transformers mythos alive then all of us adult collectors are screwed!

Personally, I love to see families come to conventions like this. I don't have any kids yet, but I am bringing my wife for the first time. I hope someday to continue this tradition when we have kids...assuming they like toys that is!

    :lol

I've never heard someone use the word "glock" before.

Either way that's why I mentioned the tinted glasses I wear. Don't picture there being too many black conventioneers w/TINTED glasses :D  So I doubt I could be mistaken for Tom/vice versa anyway :p

I don't know shaun, you give off the "gangsta" vibe, what with the tinted glasses and all. A glock wouldn't be much of a stretch.

Let me put it this way. The airport is way past the edge of the city. The con center is downtown. It's only 4 miles to the airport with it's two whopping runways.

So, yeah, ANYTHING is "just minutes" from downtown there.
