myself I love animated, but taking out the factor of my love of animated, the set works so well, and when you ignore the shattered glass two pack, the entire botcon offerings just go together flawlessly, it has such well done new headsculpts, and overall it was just a fantasticly executed set

I know the meme, doesnt' stop it from being completely stupid

A dollar says we also get a Machine Wars Star Scream out of this figure. Especially with the whole Skyquake/Starscream thing.

Oddly, this is the mold I thought would be a good choice, but assumed TFCC wouldn't use and go for WFC Megatron or another Megs mold instead. I agree this would work better with a new head (I suppose that's why they went MegaPLEX and not MegaTRON.)

I would not be the least bit surprised if this mold was re-used for one of the attendee sets for MW Starscream (already got the "Shredder" helmet motif going.)

It says in the convention brochure "Clone Army Commander" Megaplex and "Clone Warrior" Skywarp... Could that stem from the end of Jhiaxus' clone experiments from the G2 club story arc?

I am new to collecting, but for a set at the price of 365 bucks for a bunch of re-colors and some minor mold changes is CRAZY.

I do not know if this is the norm and what is done every year but if this is the case I could never see myself even considering a purchase of an individual figure let alone the set.

What is the draw to these box sets? I mean the business behind it is genius, take existing molds re-color and maybe throw in a new head call it Megaplex....profit

    to me its insane

Megaplex's entire point is to be a decoy. Looking exactly like Megatron is his thing and that's what makes him cool. This one fails (aside from needing a bit more paint, and being an inferior idea to Jhiaxus for this mold IMO) in that it looses that one key facet of the character.

IF we get a G2ish Jhiaxus from this mold too, (who it's a great match for) with a needed new head, and Megaplex was repurposed as a Jhiaxus decoy that would be fine, IMO. But as is, blah. Bad decision making IMO.

-ZacWilliam, if, as Pete says, the toy became available too late for the remold needed to make it work then they shouldn't have done it IMO. It was an idea much better saved for another time than done half-@$$ed.

How so? I wasn't aware that there was any Machine Wars fiction...

Not possible. They were only going to do four new heads and the Dreadwing mold came to them too late to change the first four choices.

As I said earlier, they should have saved the idea for another time then, IMO.

-ZacWilliam, or found an idea that the lack of a new head didn't effectively cripple.

If Jiaxus is the new head for this mold, I will ALSO take back any complaints about no new head sculpt. That would make this years set epic.

As always, I think holding back to make a judgement after ALL the add ons are revealed, is the prudent way to go. With about 15 figures each year, it's really a mini toy line, and seeing only 1/3 of it makes it hard to pass judgement accurately.

Didn't say that. Said head remolds were done, but saw Dreadwing even without a new head as a very good modern day Megaplex. Read some more here:

    https://twitter.com/RID_NightViper

Also, not gonna be completely tied to bio cards, as TF fiction often has deviated from the on package bio's. We ref when we can, but some liberties must be taken.

However, this is NOT the same Megaplex. This is Megaplex 2.0.
