I have a question, hopefully someone can answer. If you take part in a preconvention event (custom class, or tour), and pick up your registration packs on Wednesday night. Will you be able to get the souvenir figures then, or do you wait until Thursday?

I recall because I was in line @6pm to get my set and the ppl that did the tour cut in front of us and went straight to the hasbro store to buy there souvenirs..because they had pick up there sets on Wednesday night.

 

Technically it's not cutting as it's two separate lines, but yes, if you do the tour you get to skip package pick up as you've done it already.

Though the tours and classes are an end to themselves and that is just a bonus, really. I enjoy doing the touristy / fun bits purely because I'm on holiday and want to see as much as I physically can in my time there.

 

Considering that the movie is not scheduled to be released until a month after Botcon, we'll probably just see some clips, like we did in BC09.

 

I don't know... the '09 movie had a lot of things going against it like the writers strike and so forth. If I remember correctly, there was some footage shown to some at Toy Fair or something like that. I just don't see this movie being cut so close as it was the last time. I'm just hoping for something cool. When we paid $50 for the party at the paramount, it was totally worth it (to me), so I don't think FP will disappoint...

 

When paying for registration, does any one remember if it's been possible to pay with PayPal?

 

I don't believe that was an option last year. I think it was only credit cards. It might be different this year, but maybe ask on the Botcon website for a quicker, more accurate response...

 

I was informed by current and former employees of a toy company larger than Hasbro that the main reason for the increase in toy prices is not oil, but the increase in labor costs in China. Regardless costs have risen.

 

I believe FunPub is anti-Paypal since they take a decent portion out due to fees. They want and probably need all the money they can make as a small business

 

They've actually said as much once upon a time. Credit card companies take out fees, too, but apparently not as much.

 

As a vendor I confirm that credit card fees can be lower than Paypal fees.

 

Would be great to see the movie in the theater across the street kinda like they did in 2007.

 

Nah, it's too early again this year, just like in 2009. If the convention was like a week before the movie release I could see that happening again, but it's a month before the movie comes out. Just like with RotF, I foresee us getting to preview a few awesome battle sequences, but no real movie.

 

If you have a Paypal account, you should have access to a Paypal debit card (linked to your Paypal account balance). Just use that if you already have the money in your Paypal account... it's what I'm going to do. I'll even earn a small amount of cash back for using it as a credit transaction.

 

Really want more info on what's going on with HoF Celebration. $45 isn't worth it IMO for just the celebration, and they're obviously leading us on about the movie being shown. But if it's just clips again, I'm not interested. I get the feeling if it was the whole movie, that'd be huge news and a big draw, and they'd put that info in the actual brochure. If enough of my friends go, I'll probably go anyways, but eh, it's iffy.

 

There's also the "grab bag" thing. Although 2009's physical swag was just a poster, so I don't want to make too much of that.

 

Yeah - and to be honest, I can't think of anything they'd realistically put in there that'd make me think a grab bag would be worth near $45 to me. They're not putting actual toys in there.
