Too obscure and that's honestly a really weak Tarantulas. People have done customs of Brawl that work well, along with other FoC style figs, but...eh. I still want it because I want to assemble a full pre-Earth cast, but that really kind of sucks since it doesn't look as much like him as it should.

I could see Serpent O.R. working using the cybertron Sideways mold. But Generations Scourge? No.

    Re: Animated

    >He's concerned that the molds have aged in the eyes of the fandom

Haha, no. Most of them are like Masterpieces compared to the shit that was revealed today.

    >Will it sell beyond the hardcore Animated fans, that's where he is coming from

Will probably sell more than the super obscure nobodies you're loading this set with, that's for sure

I think I will be joining this year. 4/6 are definite winners for me, and the other two ain't bad, and the shot at the 7th figure would actually keep me around this time.

They think a Diaclone set wouldn't sell well. Lol these guys are crazy.

That's the only one I like. It's a great use of the Ratbat mold.

He's concerned the molds have aged in the eyes of the fandom, yet they trot out that Classics Starscream mold (twice even!) which, to be honest, has aged very poorly.

Compare that thing to any current Generations deluxe and you'll find it's very lacking. Even compared to most Animated molds that thing doesn't hold up.

After seeing the pics, I think Tarantulas needs some work. Definitely need to go with a darker purple and more yellow-green color; right now he looks like Thrustinator's brother. I would really like to see him in Transmetal colors (complete with chrome) but that defeats the pre-BW purpose... Either way, he really, really needs a new headsculpt. That one doesn't evoke Tarantulas at all, IMO.

Aside from that, Krok looks pretty cool and I really like how Serpent O.R. looks despite having no interest in G.I. Joe. G2 Starscream looks good, but not worth a slot in the TFSS. I have no idea who Zap and Nacelle are so they're nothing I'd go after.

As it stands, looks like I'll just be going for an individual purchase on Krok unless they make Tarantulas look more Tarantulas-y.

    Truth!

Or a barely repainted Starscream, and in the case of one of the obscure stuff, Generations Bumblebee Repaint 743.

Seriously funpub, you give us Krok and Zap and Tarantulas from unkheap and some jet I don't even know, and you question if Animated has appeal past Animated fans.

Oh, I'm sorry, HARDCORE Animated fans? Because I guess non-hardcore TFA Fans don't factor? And you're worried Animated, a line with some of the best engineering, has aged? Have you SEEN Generations Voyager Op?

Give me a fucking break. You're worried about TFA and Diaclone sets not selling, yet make an entire subscription line of obscure nobodies from random moulds. I don't even know what funpub is doing. Do they even listen to what they say?

"Animated and Diaclone? Dunno if tehre's a market. Here, take Zap from Gen Bumblebee and Serpent-Or from Gen Ratbat. WE ARE SO SMART. S-M-R-T."

I can understand the demand for a Diaclone set, but it's not my cup of energon.

I'm so down for this G2 Starscream...and Dofp Tarantalas. Those alone are worth it. I'll always take more seekers and Krok looks pretty sick. So those 4 are pretty sweet.

Nacelle is based on an unreleased seeker shown in an early catalog. Very cool and obscure idea. That one is a hit out if the park to me. Still can't find any info on zap

And yet this year's set uses a Classics mold (two years older than Animated) and an Energon mold (five years older than Animated)!

But he does have a point, the people who are indifferent to Animated will avoid it like the plague.

Because those are comics/ Comics that take obscure characters and GIVE them personality?

These are toys. Toys based off of characters with no personalities. (with the exception of Krok and Tarantulas, and even then Tarantulas is a terrible mould choice)

That's so not DOFP Tarantulas. He doesn't fit that theme at all.

More than people indifferent to random characters with pretty much zero significance and awkward mould choices?

I mean, the last Animated set they did was pretty damn popular.
