    shipping at botcon

I went to this years botcon and they had a shipping service booth setup to ship things back to ppls houses. I was wondering do they have that every year? Im flying out and do not trust the airlines with my stuff and wanted to ship everything back through the mail or ups. thanks

Pretty sure they do it every year, although I heard they were pretty expensive and didn't do so great a job.

Last year a USPS was in walking distance. Hopefully there will be one again this year.

I agree with xZAOx Why dont you just look up a local Post office in the area and just go there and ship it from there? Free Boxes, buy a few news papers to pack your stuff with and this way you can pack your own stuff so you know its packed right and safe. If you need bigger boxes they do sell ones called Ready Post that are much larger then the free ones they sell for about 4$ for there largest which is pretty big.. And you will only be paying shipping and not some fee for botcon to take from you, like they dont make enough off the convention already lol
I think finding a Post Office in the area would be your best and cheapest way to do it. Did they rlease the location info for it yet ? I know there said it would be in Cali but did they say what convention center it would be at ?

They do have it every year, I'm not sure the company name, but expect it to be like the UPS Store in terms of price and such. They nickel and dime you, if you know what I mean...

I shipped home my box set and add ons, it was like $30, so, they are kinda expensive, but for some folks it is well worth it for the no hassle.

I did use them to ship out some board members toys I got and everyone said everything was delivered in great shape and in a timely manner.

the last few years they have had a mailbox company come in, BUt NO it has not been at every botcon. I will bring this up with Brain Salvage in the next email. waiting on him to get a feight ship qoute for me that will be the factor if I set up as a dealer or not.

I'd be willing to bet they are there, they have been at the last several years at least, but I did not mean every single Botcon.

I checked out google maps and found the closest post office to the convention center. its located at
    281 E Colorado Blvd ,Pasadena

Here is a pic of the map. The green arrow is there the convention center is. The "A" marker is the post office. That is the closest one.. If you are just going to be shipping home what you bought there i would go to the postoffice and ship it home Priority Mail. Save your self a bunch of money then over priced shipping service, they are really only good if you got a ton of stuff to ship like if you were a dealer or something..

I plan on bringing an extra suitcase or two just for toys. Shipping costs are going to be high with two box sets and two collectors' takes from the dealers' room. If I have to pay the $25 because a suitcase is over 50lbs, I still saved money.

If you are planning on having a lot to ship, it would be way cheaper to use Priority Mail or even Parcel Post with insurance if it is a big box.

you better pack the heck out of them, I did that once, never again, all my boxes got dinged up :(

Maybe not at every BotCon, but they've had someone at every FP-run BC thus far, so I don't see it changing this time around.

ok I got a reply back from brain about this subject. Brains Quote" please pass on that we are in talks with one of the local mailbox store in that area. Just working on the final details with them. Most likely they will only be at the show saturday and sunday. I will pass on more information to you or in the mass email updates. thanks again Brain"

This is the first time I am going to attend a BOTCON and I have a couple questions to ask...

    1. How much are tickets?

    2. Is it worth going to everyday of the convention?

    3. How many show exclusives are there and much will they cost?

    4. What type of good deals of should I expect?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Primus package will cost you around $270-350. Depending on the exact cost and if you are already a member of the collectors club who get a discount. That includes the boxset of toys and all activities between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. Alternatively if you just turned up on the day to have a look around the dealer room you can get in for $10-15 or something but that really just gets you into the dealer room and maybe the panels.

    2. If you've got the Primus package then you get in to the dealer room on Friday before the Saturday walkins can get in so theres a better chance of finding that must have item. Saturdays worth a full day because theres the dinner casino in the evening and Sunday you might find some bargains as dealers what to clear stock. Plus theres different panels over the weekend.

So the short answers is yes.

    3. The boxset usually includes 5-8 figures ranging in size. Thyen theres usually 4 add ons to be bought at the show (costing upto around $200) and Primus package holders get an additional loose figure. I think the most has been 14 or 15 toys.

    4. ER, not sure what you mean. The dealer room? Well its sort of like ebay but in person and sometimes you can haggle. Thers some bargains and thers some crazy prices to.

    Anyway hope that helps.

Bring Cash. Lots of cash. And maybe a book for waiting in lines (or I suppose he could be social with the people in front of and/or behind him).

I'm confused... it sounds as though you've already asked your bro to do this, so why do you need advice on what to say?

Anyway, the easiest thing to do would be to just sign up for a non attending set, they mail the toys out to you.
